Releases: Anthony Lister – “Prima Ballerina” Print

On May 23rd at 06:00 pm EST,  Anthony Lister (filmed) will be releasing a new print through Print Them All. Created as a lithograph on stone, the new edition entitled Prima Ballerina features one of the Australian artist’s most beloved motifs. His gestural dancers have graced walls around the world as well as in galleries, his way of bridging the low brow and high brow worlds with these symbols of sophistication rendered in such a gritty way. Head over to Print Them All at the appropriate time to […]

Streets: World Roundup (Sept 2018)

It’s been a long while since our last Streets World Roundup but we felt like sharing so here’s a look at some recent street art. Headlining things is this clever series of handpainted sequential billboard takeovers from Mobstr (interviewed). Not sure where these pieces are located, but presumably in the UK somewhere. Wherever they are, the text-based work is a prime example of his wittiness, talent for placement, and minimalistic aesthetic. Other public art that caught our eyes last month include pieces from JR (Germany), AlfAlfA (Spain), Andrew […]

Previews: Anthony Lister – “Run Away Ouiji” @ Blackartprojects

On March 5th, Blackartprojects in Melbourne will be presenting new work from Anthony Lister (filmed) in a show entitled Run Away Ouiji. The Australian street artist, who recently made the news after being found guilty of wilful damage by graffiti in Brisbane, was apparently still able to find time to create a fresh series of paintings despite his legal troubles. He states something about the new exhibition  – “Ouiji boards and clowns have always freaked me out. Maybe it’s because I am in control of them these […]

Streets: Anthony Lister (Los Angeles)

Hitting the streets of Los Angeles once again, Anthony Lister (filmed) spent time getting up all over town the last couple weeks leading up to his current show at New Image Art. Showing his versatility with the roller and spraycans, working day and night, the Australian vandal left one of his signature ballerinas at Superchief Gallery as well as his take on police brutality (seen above). Streets: Anthony Lister (Detroit)

Shortly after opening his solo show at Robert Fontaine Gallery in Miami, Anthony Lister (filmed) stopped in Detroit to paint this large mural with the help of 1xRun and Inner State Gallery. Stepping away from traditional spray paint or common aesthetics see in street art, the Australian artist finished this 100 foot long piece as a great example of his expressive and unique style. Created by using a roller and only a few different colors, this piece is contines his ongoing series of superhero influenced works. Basing the image on his […]

Basel Week Miami ’14 / Streets: Anthony Lister

While walking the Wynwood Walls area, we noticed the always attention-grabbing Anthony Lister (filmed) doing his thing in front of a crowd of people. Using his recognizable loose style, the Australian artist took advantage of the long wall to paint a lady on her side overlaid with some of the frames that he has used before. More photos below… See all our coverage of Basel Week Miami here. Discuss Anthony Lister here.

Openings: Anthony Lister – “Hurt People Hurt People” @ Lazarides Rathbone

Despite being recently arrested and charged for graffiti in his home city of Brisbane, Australian artist Anthony Lister made it through to the UK for his new solo show entitled Hurt People Hurt People at Lazarides Rathbone in London. He also managed to paint three murals on the streets in the capital city. The exhibition features colourful canvases highlighting contemporary issues, from seductive female figures in superhero outfits to soldiers and still life paintings. It is also the opportunity to view a series of bronze sculptures. Check out pictures from […]

Previews: Anthony Lister – “Hurt People – Hurt People” @ Lazarides (Rathbone Pl.)

International vandal and art terrorist Anthony Lister (filmed) has been at it again. Actually, let us rephrase, he is still at it. Anyone who knows Lister also knows he has a unrelenting appetite for production, and makes no apologies to anyone, (generally for anything). Appropriately titled, Hurt People – Hurt People is set to open Friday, November 28th at Lazarides in London. Lister’s latest body of work explores society’s false sense of security, something Mister Lister undoubtably knows a little something about. Thru his latest run-ins […]

Openings: Anthony Lister – “Power Tripping” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

The many faces of Anthony Lister (art mutant, street vandal, superhero activist), turned up with a couple hundred handfuls of adoring fans for his latest solo show in NYC at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery, appropriately titled Power Tripping. If you are a fan of the Australian artist and his fairly constant parade of off-hand social shenanigans, then you’re in luck, as there were no shortage of them at this opening. There were more then a few costume changes throughout the course of the evening, including some social satire […]

Anthony Lister – “SKETCHBOOK” Release @ The Standard Hotel (NYC)

Australian artist and urban art vandal, Anthony Lister (filmed) has his feet firmly planted on New York soil in preparation for his upcoming show at Jonathan LevVne Gallery. But before we get too far ahead of ourselves we took a time-out to swing by The Standard Hotel where he took care of his first order of business with the release of his new book appropriately titled SKETCHBOOK, which is a compilation of drawing, random thoughst and conceptual visions of time travel spanning over the last decade. It’s […]
