Openings: Franco “Jaz” Fasoli – “Vinculo” @ BC Gallery

Argentinian based artist Franco Fasoli aka JAZ opened a solo show at BC Gallery in Berlin on June 6th. Titled Vinculo, this exhibition is a continuation of the successful collaboration between the gallery and the artist. The paintings created for this show are “defined by the tensions of ambivalence,” and instead of showing his signature anamorphic imagery, are “divided” into animalistic and humanoid ones. Dutch artist Daan Botlek has recently moved to Germany and after a few weeks of life in one of the street art’s capitals, he picked up his tools and went painting in public again. We recently brought you a look at artists at work on the Urban Nation’s Project M/4 in Berlin, curated by Thinkspace. As we mentioned last week, the Thinkspace Gallery curating a show entitled LAX / TXL as part of the fourth stage of a project by Urban Nation. Along with this group exhibition, some artists have been recruited to create 10×10 foot window murals including Alexis Diaz (aka La Pandilla) – seen above, Andrew Schoultz, C215, Curiot, Fernando Chamarelli, Glenn Barr, Joao Ruas, Low Bros, Nosego, Word To Mother, plus a massive full building mural from Dabs Myla. Previews: Thinkspace – “LAX / TXL” & Project M/4 (Berlin)

As previously announced, the Urban Nation project in Berlin is continuing with their fourth phase which includes a pop-up exhibition and mural project curated by Andrew Hosner of Thinkspace. Titled LAX / TXL, the show is opening on Saturday, May 17th in Berlin, and will feature works from an impressive rooster of artists. Similar to their Exploring The New Contemporary Movement show during this year’s POW! WOW! event in Hawaii (covered), this showing is the Culver City gallery’s effort in introducing the artists and their work to a wider audience. […]

Openings: Da Mental Vaporz – “The Wall” @ BC Gallery

French art collective and graffiti crew, Da Mental Vaporz aka DMV recently opened their show on the 26th of May at BC Gallery. Along with creating two new murals together (covered), the crew members worked & collaborated on canvases & panels for the show entitled The Wall, as well as built a DMV version of the legendary Checkpoint Charlie inside the gallery space. Members of the French street-art collective Da Mental Vaporz  are currently in Berlin, working hard on their upcoming collaborative exhibition, The Wall, opening on the 26th of May at BC gallery. The show will include a display of works in the two spaces of the gallery, as well as two large public murals that can be seen in the surrounding area. Openings: Ai Weiwei – “Evidence” @ Martin Gropius-Bau

Ai Weiwei’s largest show to date, Evidence, has just opened at Martin Gropius-Bau, Berlin. The exhibition features new works that have been specifically designed for the exhibition or have never been shown in Germany. The show references some of the artist’s most well-known work, and his widely known experiences as an activist.
