The last time we hung out with Ben Eine was when he was painting the “Alphabet Street” in London. He has since made headlines by entering Obama’s collection and now appears to have traveled to Cape Town to do some work. Take a look this nice project as he painted over some large vats with “FAIR SPONTANEOUS PASSIONATE CHANGE THE WORLD AND CELEBRATE.” Take a look at a couple of in progress shots as well as more shutters from South Africa after the jump…

Ben Eine’s Strangest Week

And so, a very unique and a very strange week for Ben Eine has come to an end. Unless your head has been in the sand, you’ll have seen that his painting “21st Century City” was gifted to Barack Obama by British Prime Minister David Cameron, and as a result, Eine has been all over the news – TV, radio and the papers – even some of AM’s own pictures appeared in The Guardian amongst a variety of other places. We all know that Ben Eine’s alphabet shutters can brighten up any street right? Well, we were surprised that before now, Ben had never actually painted a full alphabet down one street, so AM went along to see how Middlesex Street in London, was getting turned into Alphabet Street. A new gallery in town, Electric Blue, had liaised with the local proprietors and shop owners and agreed that the shutters could be painted by Eine all along this largely ‘unpainted’ area sandwiched between Liverpool St […]

Streets: EINE in Japan

It looks like UK street artist EINE was over in Japan for a show at Gallery 503 recently. Apparently, he had a lot of time to throw up some pieces in the street, mainly due to getting stranded because of the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland. Eine ended up painting 22 shutters and walls, though it looks like he only used the English alphabet for his fans in Tokyo… Take a look at more images after the jump.

AM enjoyed the intense visual experience of EINE’s Los Angeles debut solo show “The A – Z of Change” (previewed) which opened at Carmichael Gallery this past Thursday. The buffet of vibrant colored squares strewn across the walls served as the perfect backdrop for his amazing canvas pieces and the powerful imagery contained therein. Fresh off his world record setting “Shutter Font” exhibition, Ben EINE makes a trip across the pond for “The A – Z of Change,” his debut Los Angeles solo opening July 9th at Carmichael Gallery.
