Another great group show is underway at Lazarides (Newcastle Location). This time, the exhibition that opened last weekend is entitled “Outsiders Selection” and features original paintings, prints and sculpture from Faile, Antony Micallef, Blu, Ian Francis, David Choe, JR, Conor Harrington, Damien Hirst, Paul Insect, Invader, Polly Morgan, Kelsey Brookes, Vhils, Jonathan Yeo, Herbert Baglione, Zevs, and more.Â Although the art was mainly older work, there were many standout pieces including this stunning “Flying Copper” (seen above) by Banksy suspended in glass/plexi.Â Many more pics […]

On the streets: Faile vs. Supreme?

Looks like Faile has been working overtime in the streets of NYC at the expense of Supreme’s Spring ad campaign. Numerous ad posters were altered and remixed across the streets of New York. Faile replaced rocker Lou Reed’s “grill” with their infamous tiger face and also replaced the classic Supreme “box logo” on center of the shirt with the Collective’s catch phrase: “vanity”. Openings: 15 Years of New Image Art

Last night’s opening for “15 Years of New Image Art” (previewed here and here) reaffirmed why New Image Art is one of the primary driving forces in the alternative/low-brow/street art scene. The show was everything we thought it would be and more – great art, an energetic crowd, and non-stop entertainment. Thinkspace and Ad Hoc Art pulled out all the stops for the opening of “From the Streets of Brooklyn” (teased and previewed) and Los Angeles was out in full force, packing the gallery to the brim to scope out the work from Brooklyn’s best graf writers, wheatpasters, muralists, and stencilers.
