For the last several days now, Faile (featured) has been in Covington working on a large scale mural on the rear walls of the Republic Bank and Donna Salyer’s Fabulous Bridal on the corners of 6th Street and Madison Avenue. A month ago, AM stopped by the Brooklyn studio space of Faile to catch a glimpse of their upcoming show at Gallery Ernst Hilger which opens tomorrow, July 2nd in Austria. Last Thursday, Javier Lopez Gallery, presented the Knock Knock group show exhibition to fans in Spain. It featured works from contemporary artists whose work is influenced by comics like Kaws, Faile, Yoshitomo Nara, and comic artists themselves like Vanderbroucke & El Roto as well as underground comic visionaries, Robert Crumb, or graphic novel artists like Art Spiegelman and Chris Ware. Today, May 20th, at 12 Noon Eastern Standard Time, Faile (featured) will be releasing more of their original silk screened book covers, conveniently float mounted in a white frame. The imagery in this set features imagery from their recent show at the Dallas Contemporary (covered) as well as their Cat Show LA quilt. On Saturday, January 25th, the newly located 101/Exhibit will be opening a Cat Art Show in Los Angeles with a portion of the proceeds will benefit Stray Cat Alliance. During Art Basel Week, numerous artists trek to Miami to set up artistic pop-up projects. One of our favorites this year was by the Brooklyn-based Faile and Bast. AM recently paid a visit to Faile’s Brooklyn hideout to take a closer look at their collaborative project with Bast – a nostalgic arcade-based exhibition entitled Deluxx Fluxx. Set to open tonight in South Beach (1604 Washington Blvd.), with sponsorship by Perrier, this marks version 3.0 for this mind blowing showcase of old school arcade games, foosball, and now they’ve added specially crafted pinball machines to bring back the sensory addictions of the 70s & 80s.
