As mentioned, this Friday night, May 22nd, Shepard Fairey (featured) will be opening his solo entitled Printed Matters at Library Street Collective in Detroit. Releases: Ron English – “Temporal Boxing Brain”

Earlier this month, Ron English (featured) intruded something new produced by ToyQube entitled Temporal Boxing Brain. Based on one of the NY-based artist’s paintings, the sculptural release is a good example of his wit as well as penchant for creative remixing of common items and pop culture. Showing: Invader – “Wipe Out” @ The Qube (Hong Kong)

Showing through the end of this weekend is a show entitled Wipe Out from Invader in Hong Kong at The Qube, PMQ (35 Aberdeen Street, Central). The title of the exhibition is in reference to the extremely efficient and quick removal of 90% of his famed tiled creations from the streets of the metropolis by cleaning crews after getting up earlier there this year (here & here). The city of bridges (Venice is located on 117 small connected islands), is currently hosting a very unique group exhibition titled Bridges of Graffiti. Chris Burden 1946 – 2015

The art world was saddened today to hear that Chris Burden had passed away at home earlier this morning after an 18 month fight with melanoma. He was 69. Streets: Nychos (Vienna)

Last month, prolific street muralist Nychos painted a mural in his Vienna entitled Dissection of a Polar Bear. Over five stories high, the wall painted is the first large scale piece the Austrian artist has worked on in his hometown and coincides with creative studio, Rabbit Eye Movement, which just celebrated their 10 year anniversary. Previews: Luke Chueh – “Headspace” @ Rotofugi

Like his show there in 2012 (covered), the paintings from Luke Chueh’s (interviewed) upcoming show at Rotofugi were created with the location in mind. Art Focus: Cinta Vidal

A return to our Art Focus features see our eyes settle on the work of Cinta Vidal. The Spanish artist who works in scenography, mainly paints the massive backdrops at Opera de Sabadell with here time, but it is her personal art or “un-gravity constructions” that interests us. The impossible architecture oftentimes has a Escher-like feel to it, and when combined with everyday objects and people going about their everyday life makes for an interesting dynamic that has the viewer examining the pieces from different angles and perspectives. Streets: Stephen “ESPO” Powers (Miami)

Stephen Powers recently shared photos of a massive mural he painted at The Carlton Hotel in Miami, directly behind The Betsy Hotel.
