Alice Gallery in Brussels recently opened Salut, the first Belgium solo show by artist, designer, and illustrator, Parra. The show features a new body of work that includes drawings, paintings, and a large sculpture titled Give Up. With the fresh collection of works, Parra has gone back to mixing his signature lettering along with recognizable female figures. Jan Kalab is a Czech artist that was one of the pioneers of graffiti in his homeland. As a founder of the DSK crew, his career stretched from Prague’s train yards to painting whole cars in NYC in 2000. Last week, JR (interviewed) completed the latest installment of his ongoing project The Wrinkles Of The City in Turkey. The series which has seen the French artist paste up large scale photographs of the older citizens of various cities has already taken him to Cartagena, Shanghai, Los Angeles, Cuba, and Berlin since 2008. Towards the end of 2013, D*Face (interviewed) and Shepard Fairey (featured) joined forces to paint two large murals (covered) on the side of a building in Malaga, Spain. Fast forward to the end the month and the city in southern Spain will see D return with his first museum exhibition at the CAC Malaga entitled Wasted Youth. After introducing you to the work of 1010 after a showing in San Francisco earlier this year, we now have some images from a new project from the German artist in Paris. Invited in by Galerie Itinerrance, the street artist known for painted multicolored optical illusions onto the side of buildings created the appearance of a chasm on a freeway interchange under construction in the 13th arrondissement. Earlier this month, RISK head out to Columbus, Ohio for the Rock On The Range festival, a project he collaborated on with Danny Wimmer Presents. With the goal to create the world’s largest interactive mural, he has so far attended two events (out of a planned ten) and has had the participation of over 15,000 people (with a goal of 100,000 people & a 10,000 sq. foot mural).
