Streets: London’s largest mural by Agents of Change

With the sun shining and scaffolding removed, wraps have come off London’s largest graffiti mural, covering two sides of a six-storey building in King’s Cross. Members of the Agents of Change crew with London based Remi/Rough, Edinburgh’s Steve More, LX.One from Paris, LA-based Augustine Kofie created this colourful geometrical artwork using over 500 litres of spray paint. The Guggenheim in New York is currently showing a can’t miss retrospective from the late John Chamberlain. The renowned American sculptor, known as the artist who successfully translated Abstract Expressionism into three dimensions, is perhaps most most famous for his crushed car pieces, which are despite the materials – collages. Another weekend, another Streets: World Roundup here on AM. The highlighted mural this time comes from Tahrir Square in Egypt where Sheikh Khan painted one of the barriers that the Egyptian military erected to divide the streets that connect to government power centers. For this weekend’s Art Focus feature, we wanted to point you to the work of Laurent Craste. The French sculptor creates these ornate porcelain pieces that would be classic works except that he literally “throws a wrench in things” by having various items like baseball bats, axes, knives, nails and more embedded in them. Recently, Nick Walker (interviewed) took a little trip across the pond to Chi-town hoping to spread a little Vandal love. With the weather finally cooperating Nick packed his freshly cut stencils and hit the streets of Chicago. Coming up this Saturday night (March 24th), the LeBasse Projects in Chinatown will be presenting a collection sculptural works from Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed) that he has been working for the last several years. The showing, entitled Jokes On Me…, features customized figures of iconic toys from childhood as well his own creations putting his skills with a range of mediums including plaster, resin, vinyl, clay and wood. Streets: JR x Liu Bolin (Part II)

Yesterday, we gave you an inside look at the collaborative project between Liu Bolin and JR (featured). During the first part of the day, the French artist wheat-pasted up a beautiful photo mural of the Liu. Now, we get to see Chinese artist return the favor and camouflage JR into his own art with his signature touch.
