Openings: Nychos – “Pellis Os Omentum” @ Galo Art Gallery

Currently on display through the weekend at the Galo Art Gallery in Torino, Italy is a solo show from Austrian painter Nychos. Pellis Os Omentum includes a series of paintings and drawings that closely references the anatomical focus and cartoonish quality of his street work. In addition, showgoers were able to enjoy the floor to ceiling mural that he painted in the two-level showspace. Check out more photos from the opening reception below… Photos via the gallery. Preview: Diana Al-Hadid & Medardo Rosso @ Workshop, Venice

After 18 months in the making, Gallery Workshop in Venice, Italy, is opening a very special show on the May 30th, showing new works by Diana Al-Hadid, and some classic pieces from Medardo Rosso, in collaboration with the Museo Medardo Rosso and Marianne Boesky Gallery. Streets: Blu (Italy)

The recently dormant Blu has woken up with a series of murals in Southern Italy protesting the the construction of a Mobile User Objective System, an array of satellites being developed for the United States Department of Defense. Although unproven, the local people believe that their are health risks of long-term exposure to the high-power transmissions and have mounted major protests against the station being bulit there. Upcoming: Nychos – “Pellis Os Omentum” @ Galo Art Gallery

After seeing Austrian painter Nychos’ work in person in Hawaii recently (here & here), we developed a better appreciation for his painterly technique. He now has a new solo show opening up on April 13th at the Galo Art Gallery in Torino, Italy entitled Pellis Os Omentum. Openings: Marco Mazzoni – “Il Ricordo è Un Consolatore Molesto”@ Galleria Patricia Armocida

Italian artist and illustrator Marco Mazzoni opened a solo show last night with Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan, Italy. As we mentioned in the preview for this show, this is Marco’s 1st solo show in a city where he has been working and living in for years. Along with medium-scale colored pencil paper drawings, moleskin paper drawings, and a site-specific installation that was announced for this show, the artist had another three mini moleskine books exhibited with three drawings that matched the theme and the spirit of this show. Italian artist Marco Mazzoni is currently preparing a solo show with Galleria Patricia Armocida in Milan, Italy, opening on the 19th of February 2013. With fifteen new medium-scale colored pencil paper drawings, twelve Moleskin paper drawings, and a site-specific installation, his 1st solo show in the city he lives and works in, will be one of his biggest to date. Fame Fest ’12: Vhils, Momo, Cyop & Kaf, Moneyless

After bringing you opening photos from this year’s group show for the Fame Festival as well as most of the notable associated murals, it’s now time to summarize some of the rest of the public art that caught our eye this year.  This includes new pieces from a diverse group of artists from around the world like Vhils (above), Momo, Cyop & Kaf, and Moneyless. Streets: Blu (Rome)

After painting a brilliant mural in Spain for the DesOrdes Creativas Festival back in July, Italian street savant Blu has surfaced in Rome with another detailed wall. This piece seen at greyhound track, under Ponte Marconi features renderings of classic roman sculptures but updated with a modern twist – religious figures, politicians, the KKK, and even the couch potato make an appearance.  Check out more details in the photos below… Via StreetArtNews. Openings: Fame Festival 2012

After sharing tantalizing photos of some of this year’s Fame Festival murals and some video footage as well, we know have some shots documenting the opening of the group exhibition associated with the event. This year’s stellar lineup included of street artists like Ericailcane, Boris Hoppek, Conor Harrington, Moneyless, Cyop & Kaf, Vhils, Momo, & more and it looks like most of them contributed something to the exhibition including some more experimental ceramic works which is what the town of Grottaglie is known for. Fame Fest ’12: Ericailcane (Part II)

After bringing you photos earlier of a wall Ericailcane painted for this year’s Fame Festival, we now have a look at a second mural from the Italian street maestro. Just this past weekend was the opening of the event, so fans who made the trek out to Grottaglie got to enjoy this piece in person.
