Following her success in Paris and Shangai, French gallerist Magda Danysz recently launched a pop-up gallery space in London called the The London Project for a duration of 100 days. While the lower ground floor is dedicated to in-situ installations by international artists and evolving across the 100 days, the first floor is currently hosting an exhibition entitled MASTERS OF STREET ART with work from Banksy, Blek Le Rat, Futura, Jef Aerosol, JonOne, L’Atlas, Obey, Pure Evil, Remi Rough (pictured), Space Invader, Sten & Lex, West and Yz on display. The New York-based Todd James a.k.a. REAS, is showing his new works at London’s Lazarides. The exhibition entitled Fantasy Island explores the grotesque of socio-political news we receive, between images of war, somali pirates, UN soldiers and scantily-clad females posing on the cover of fashion magazines. Using vibrant colours, the American artist’s paintings feature an army of multicolored AK47, armed soldiers balancing cup of teas in armchairs, while his oversexualised blonde female portraits are reminiscent of Wesselman. David Shillinglaw (see the studio visit here) recently opened a new solo exhibition entitled You Are Here at Scream Gallery in London. A large crowd gathered to see the re-creation of the studio space of the artist, like an exploration of his creative mind, and enjoyed the new body of work on canvas, paper and wood, featuring symbols and typography with British artist’s signature sunny colour palette.
