Openings: Travis Louis – “Strange Discoveries” @ Merry Karnowsky Gallery

Over the weekend, fans in Los Angeles were once again able to enjoy a new body of work from Travis Louie (interviewed) at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery. It’s been couple years since his last showing at the space (see 2011), but the paintings and drawings for Strange Discoveries were well worth the wait. Quam Odunsi – “The Reagents” @ Design Matters Gallery

Quam Odunsi’s second solo exhibition at Design Matters Gallery in Los Angeles, The Reagents (previewed), recently closed and we have images from the exhibition installation for you here. Murakami x Harper’s Bazaar Shoot

For those of you who watched Takashi Murakami’s film Jellyfish Eyes, his recent shoot with Harper’s Bazaar may look familiar to you. The Japanese art superstar and some of the characters from the movie spent a day with Angela Lindvall and photographer Jason Schmidt out in Los Angeles prepping for the December/January issue. Over the weekend, Fabien Castanier Gallery in Los Angeles hosted an exhibition featuring new work by Kelly “RISK” Graval (interviewed) curated by Roger Gastman. Drawing from a career spanning over 30 years, the legendary hometown graffiti artist has created a diverse body of work collectively entitled Metallic Tissue. Studio Visits: Dennis McNett – “Temple of Wolfbat” @ Known Gallery

AM recently stopped by the Wolfbat Studios of Dennis McNett. The Brooklyn-based artist is getting ready for his solo exhibition entitled Temple of Wolfbat at Known Gallery in Los Angeles that is set to open on November 16th. While there, we got a sneak peek of what’s to come for this big Los Angeles exhibition. Ryan McGinness x SPiN Standard Glow-Pong Table

Recently, Ryan McGinness unveiled a custom black light ping-pong table that he designed for SPiN Standard at The Standard, Downtown LA. The New York-based artist stuck true to his graphic style for this custom table, utilizing his trademark iconography and design aesthetics to convey a complex and poetic concept. Upcoming: “Black Moon” @ Model Citizen Studios

Open for two days only starting tonight, Black Moon is a group exhibition featuring four California-based artists Jessicka Addams, Camille Rose Garcia (seen above), Elizabeth McGrath, and Marion Peck. Curated by Alix Sloan, the show will feature Addams’ octopi-related imagery, CRG’s recent obsession with bats, McGrath’s three-dimensional art, and Peck’s clown portraits.
