Previews: Bom.K – “Confusions” @ Known Gallery

French graffiti artist Bom.K will be having his first solo show stateside called Confusions at Known Gallery in Los Angeles. Having exhibited with the DMV crew in Spain, Denmark, Australia, UK and following the success of his last solo show in France (covered here), Bom.k is taking the US by storm. Mastering the spray can with an incredible dexterity and intricate details, he depicts a gritty universe with his monstrous yet captivating creatures. Confusions opens on the 11th of January.  

Showing: Dan Quintana – “Desensitized 13” @ Copro Gallery

Showing through this Saturday is the joint exhibition from Bian Viveros (featured) & Dan Quintana at Copro Gallery entitled Desensitized 13. We already shared with you the contributions from Viveros here, so now it’s time to take a look at Quintana’s work. Rendered with his delicate touch, his feminine heroines live in a fantasy world inhabited by skeletal creatures while swathed in colors. Preview: Paco Pomet – “Scapelands” @ Richard Heller Gallery

On January 11th, Spanish artist Paco Pomet will be opening a solo show at the Richard Heller Gallery in Los Angeles. Entitled Scapelands, his second exhibition with the Bergamot Station showspace will feature a range of his works including traditional scenes interjected with text bubbles, surreal visions of human-animal hybrids, as well as plays with perspective. Currently showing at the Copro Gallery in Los Angeles is a joint exhibition from Brian Viveros (featured) & Dan Quintana. As fans who attended the SCOPE Art Fair during Art Basel Week in Miami already know, the new body of work features individual efforts as well as collaborative pieces from the two artist who specialize in surreal female figures with fantastical elements. Over last weekend, the Merry Karnowsky gallery unveiled another exhibition of work from the late Vivian Maier after an initial showing almost a year ago (covered). Nike Vault at the STAPLES Center recently launched The Kobe Prelude Experience. For eight weeks, they are showcasing Kobe inspired artwork by different artists, and every Saturday they will unveil a new piece. Each piece is tied to a key moment in Kobe’s career. LA-based artist, Allison “Hueman” Torneros, unveiled the first piece in the eight part series the other night. Nike commissioned her to create a surreal piece inspired by his 81 point game.
