Streets: Ludo – “Mutant With Eagle Head” (Paris)

Ludo (interviewed) recently finished this huge mural in the 13th arrondissement of Paris, also known as arrondissement des Gobelins, titled Mutant With Eagle Head. As usual, the French artist has created another one of his signature mutant characters. These are strongly influenced by the flyers and skate deck imagery from the late 80’s early 90’s that the artist grew up with. After a bit of traveling, LUDO (interviewed) appears to have spent a good part of last month back in his home country of France. Continuing his series of street works – Nature’s Revenge – the French artist keeps creative modifying creatures and plants for war with humans. We start this month’s survey of street art with this sweet new piece from El Mac painted on what looks to be the side of a train car. The LA-based artist painted the portrait as a tribute to his friend and gifted photographer Estevan Oriol. This week’s look at public art around the world is headlined by this new piece (source) from Case (aka Andreas von Chrzanowski) in Frankfurt, Germany. Painted at the construction site for the future European Central Bank headquarters, the MaClaim crew member painted Pinnochio being manipulated by a pair of hands, making some sort of political statement. Showing: LUDO – “Metal Militia” @ Galerie Itinerrance

Last week, the Galerie Itinerrance in Paris put new works from LUDO (interviewed) on display in a show entitled Metal Militia all executed with splashes of his signature green tinge. The series of paintings mirror the imagery seen in the public murals of the locally-based street artist and reflect his ongoing Nature’s Revenge campaign where his plants, insects, and animals have evolved deadly appendages and skills to fight back again the human race. Other pieces featured LUDO’s Co-branding series and his commentary on public advertising. Discuss LUDO here.
