Releases: Exclusives at San Diego Comic-Con 2009

Now that you know about all the art-related events happening after the floor shuts down at Comic-Con 2009, AM takes a closer look at all the exclusive releases happening on the show floor (as well as one really close by). From vinyl art figures to book releases to some amazing skate decks, there is definitely something here for everyone. An overview of our favorite Comic-Con 2009 exclusive releases after the jump.

Releases: Dave Kinsey Ceramic Plate

Looks like Studiocromie is getting ready to release this beautiful screen-printed ceramic plate by Dave Kinsey. These will be a limited edition and will cost about 220 euros. This should not come as a surprise as the FAME Festival this year, also put on by Studiocromie, is encouraging artists to work with ceramics as well.Â Take a look at the signature on the back of the plate as well as a picture of the ceramic workshop after the jump…

Releases: James Jean’s “Kindling” Book – San Diego Comic-Con

A limited number of advance copies of James Jean’s (interviewed) book featuring work from his NYC solo show will be released at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Published by Chronicle Books, “Kindling” presents 12 of James’ visual mix of abstract and illustrative works from the show, along with his detailed preliminary sketch for the work on the reverse side, printed in a removable large poster format. Releases: David Choe – “Jimi Hendrix” Print

What’s with all the great limited edition releases recently? Here is David Choe holding up an epic print (his largest ever) of his Jimi Hendrix painting. Limited to 27 (also Hendrix’s age at death) and sized at 44″ x 51 5/8″, the print was priced at $600. Unfortunately, it already sold out before Choe even got the post up on his blog.

UK artist Word to Mother lands in San Francisco next week forÂ his debut USÂ solo show “Young Mind, Old Soul” at Fifty24SF Gallery, where he will be droppingÂ this exclusive print release (above). Benefit: Camille Rose Garcia “Lil Elorphant” Print

In case you missed their first print with Mark Ryden, Roq La Rue just announced a second charitable print they did with Camille Rose Garcia. Again this is to raise money for David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust so every penny of this amazing print is going towards this great charity which helps endangered elephants and rhinos in Africa. When it comes to limited edition releases, one of the best in the game is Pressure Printing. This time they have teamed up with James Jean (interviewed) to produce this beautiful hand-finished print entitled “Kindling” (named after his last solo show) in a super-limited run of 10 (plus 5 Artist’s Proofs, 5 Printer’s Proofs, and 1 Bon Ã¡ tirer).Â No word how much this will go for yet but one will go into Asian Art Musuem’s permanent collection and a benefit auction by Hayao Miyazaki […]

Release Party: Yoskay Yamamoto’s Koibito – LeBasse Projects Colorway

Yoskay Yamamoto’s (interviewed) Koibito release party (announced) took place this past Wednesday at LeBasse Projects. AM arrived at the gallery at 6pm and even though the release party wasn’t scheduled to start until 7pm, there were already about 40 fans waiting outside. In fact, some fans started waiting in line as early as 9am. Once inside the gallery, fans could purchase the white/silver koibito, red/white koibito, postcard sets, “Screaming for the Sunrise” giclee prints and show catalogs.
