Showing: Invader – “Wipe Out” @ The Qube (Hong Kong)

Showing through the end of this weekend is a show entitled Wipe Out from Invader in Hong Kong at The Qube, PMQ (35 Aberdeen Street, Central). The title of the exhibition is in reference to the extremely efficient and quick removal of 90% of his famed tiled creations from the streets of the metropolis by cleaning crews after getting up earlier there this year (here & here). This weekend, Berlin based artist Clemens Behr opens his first US solo exhibition at Mirus Gallery. Variety of (N)one will feature Behr’s trademark installation-based artworks following a month’s residency with the San Francisco space and will extensively feature materials gathered by the artist from the recent remodelling of the building which houses the gallery. Streets: Waone & AEC (Interesni Kazki), Perth

Ukrainian artists Waone & AEC from Interesni Kazki (interviewed) recently spent a few weeks in Western Australia, working on their murals for the local Form Festival in Perth (more coverage here). The artists were painting on separate walls of the same building in the Northbridge area, bringing a taste of their surrealist and meaningful work to the city. Audrey Kawasaki, Andrew Hem, Mari Inukai Murals @ Worcester Museum (Part I)

With the Samurai! show (co-curated by Eric Nakamura, editor and founder of Giant Robot Magazine) at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts now open to the public, the artists invited to paint murals for the exhibition were able to start their efforts last week. One of the artists invited, Andrew Hem, has created large scale public art in the past, but the other two, Audrey Kawasaki and Mari Inukai were not as experienced with mural painting. Upcoming: Eloy Morales – “About Head” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

On May 16th, the 529 West 20th Street location of Jonathan LeVine Gallery will be hosting a set of new works from Eloy Morales collectively entitled About Head. The Madrid-based artist’s raw hyper-realistic portraiture is a sight to behold, but even more so in person when the scale is fully appreciated. Upcoming: Gary Baseman – “Happy Toby To You” @ Time Square Hong Kong

On May 21st, Hong Kong’s Time Square will be welcoming in another artist (see Mike Stilkey and Yoskay Yamamoto) to create an installation arranged by LeBasse Projects at the mall complex in Causeway Bay. In celebration of his character Toby’s 10th birthday, Gary Baseman’s (interviewed) faithful companion will be part of a new sculptural installation set up as a birthday party with his dear friends.
