Showing: Delta – “Subduction Zones” @ Muziekgebouw Concert Hall (Amsterdam)

It looks like Boris Tellegen aka Delta has decided to go big since we last saw his work at the Elms Lester show in 2009. These new large-scale floating sculptural works from the Dutch artist are currently on display at Amsterdam’s Muziekgebouw Concert Hall and are collectively entitled Subduction Zones, placed to welcome the World Minimal Music Festival. Last night, AM attended the opening party for the South Park Art Gallery (previewed). Hosted by Comedy Central & Opera Gallery, the exhibition invited 15 artists to reinterpret their favorite character or moments from the iconic South Park animated series which is celebrating it’s 15th anniversary. Next Wednesday evening, March 30th, Sloan Fine Art will play host to Jonathan Viner’s new body of work. The show entitled “COMPUTER SCIENCE” harkens back to Viner’s childhood when he spent countless hours with their father at the robotics lab at the New York Institute of Technology and the “mental portraits” of the people he interacted with in his memory. Robert Longo is currently showing at Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac in Paris, and we are completely in awe of his the size, detail, and complexity of these new drawings. The centerpiece of this exhibition, entitled God Machines, is the installation of three large pieces featuring some of holiest places for the world’s largest monotheistic religions – Mecca in Saudi Arabia, St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome and the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. Miss Van, one of the feminine figureheads of street art, recently returned to her native France for her first solo showing there in three years. The exhibition, entitled Twinkles, at the Parisian branch of Magda Danysz featured paintings and drawings of her signature enticing “poupes” in various states of undress and costume wearing – with increasingly darker overtones. On Saturday, our friends at Giant Robot held a unique group show at their GR2 space. Originally, the event was conceived to raise funds for UNICEF’s Tap Project, which is an effort to get clean and accessible water to millions of children around the world.
