Showing: Søren Solkær “Surface” @ Øksnehallen

After Melbourne, LA and NY, the next show on Søren Solkær‘s Surface world tour opened Friday June 12th at Øksnehallen in Copenhagen. The exhibition in his hometown is the largest on the world tour, covering a 3,500 square meter area, which provided a great setting for a major street art related event. Streets: 1010 (Las Vegas)

After sharing a massive new mural in Paris from 1010 with you back in May, we now return with a smaller project he worked on in Sin City. Painted for the Life Is Beautiful festival in Downtown Las Vegas and arranged by JustKids, the new mural takes advantage of a unique three part structure in the financial district. This Saturday, July 11th, White Walls Gallery will be opening a solo from Mear One (interviewed) entitled Cognitive Dissonance. Previews / Setup: Faile – “Savage/Sacred Young Minds” @ Brooklyn Museum

With the opening fast approaching at the end of next week, Faile (featured) has ramped up their setup for their solo at the Brooklyn Museum. Entitled Savage/Sacred Young Minds, the exhibition from the locally-based artistic duo will features a diverse selection of works from their oeuvre including multimedia installations, large-scale paintings, and sculptures as well as a revival of the Deluxx Fluxx Arcade with their long time collaborator Bast. After stopping in Hong Kong (covered) and Seoul (covered), Pejac finished his Asian tour with the most anticipated part of his trip – Tokyo. POW! WOW! Long Beach ’15: James Jean

Over the weekend, James Jean (interviewed) completed one of his tallest murals yet for POW! WOW! Long Beach (see our coverage here). Painted on the side of the historic Varden Hotel in the heart of downtown, the striking black and white mural was placed next to a wall by Tristan Eaton (more on this later). Streets: Faith47 (Jersey City)

World traveller and prolific street artist Faith47 has been painting a series of murals in Jersey City and NYC in recent weeks. This particular piece featuring the South Africa-based artist’s signature swans and color palette went up in Jersey City Heights on the side of a multi-story building. Recap: “Highlights From Past SFAQ [Projects] 2012–2015” @ SFAQ [Project] Space

Just closing over the weekend at the SFAQ [Project] Space, the gallery space of the magazine, was a show entitled Highlights From Past SFAQ [Projects] 2012–2015. The title of the exhibition speaks for itself – artists who have collaborated with the publication before on pullouts or inserts have these projects on display along with an artwork that corresponds to it.
