Streets: Banksy – “Season’s Greeting” (Port Talbot, Wales)

Making a statement during the holiday season in his own unique way, Banksy has created a new piece in  South Wales. Featuring a boy enjoying what appear to be snowflakes while trying to catch some on his tongue, the mural turns dark when you look around the corner and realize it’s actually ash from a burning dumpster, not snow. Surely a commentary on Port Talbot (one of the most polluted areas in the UK) where the piece is located, a video (seen below) from the […]

Showing: Invader – “Into The White Cube” @ Over The Influence (LA)

Invader (featured) returned to Los Angeles recently to open his new exhibition entitled Into The White Cube (previewed) at Over The Influence. In The Myth of Sisyphus, Albert Camus declared that “great works are often born on a street-corner.” In a literal sense, this is perhaps never more true than with the French artist, who has often favored these locations for the work he has created in nearly 80 cities around the world. The 10th wave of the Invasion of Los Angeles has just been […]

Showing: Rammellzee – “A Roll Of Dice” @ Lazinc

An exhibition of the work of Rammellzee entitled A Roll of Dice closes this week after a two month run at Lazinc in London.  The multi-disciplinary artist originally made his name from the mid-1970s onwards as king of the A Line, painting the subway trains which ran from his native Far Rockaway to the heart of Manhattan. But while other graffiti artists appropriated military terminology such as ‘bombing’ to describe their artistic actions, Rammellzee considered writing to be a literal act of war. The Gothic Futurist sought […]

Recap: José Parlá – “Echo of Impressions” @ Ben Brown Fine Arts (London)

José Parlá returned to London recently for his third UK solo show entitled Echo of Impressions (previewed). The Brooklyn-based artist’s practice continues to be primarily concerned with the documentation of the urban landscape but the show’s title references a particular emphasis at this time on the sights, sounds, noises, smells and tastes of the city as a marker for the lives which are experienced within that space. While these are essential components of how we experience the built environment at any given point in time, […]

Showing: Felipe Pantone – “W3-DIMENSIONAL Park” @ Siam Center

Last week in Bangkok, Felipe Pantone unveiled an immersive installation at the Siam Center entitled W3-DIMENSIONAL Park. For his first showing in Thailand, the Argentinian-Spanish artist created a sculptural representation of his special form of glitch effects and optical art that transports viewers into the digital world. The title of the piece references the three dimensional aspect of the World Wide Web (divs, tables, and iframes) and includes four original pieces that are part of some recent projects. On view through 2019, the installation is a testament to the graffiti […]

Releases: Vhils – “Prevail” Sculptural Edition & “Predominate” Print

Although in Miami for his now open show (covered), Vhils (interviewed) also has something going on for his fans at home. Tomorrow, December 5th at 4pm GMT, the Lisbon-based artist will be releasing some editions through the Underdogs Gallery webstore that celebrates one of his favorite public artworks (which has now been demolished) in the capital city. Most interesting is the sculptural edition entitled Prevail (edition of 20 + 5 AP), a laser engraved fragment of the demolished building that features the image of the mural. Because of the […]

The edition will […]
