After bringing you extensive coverage of this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii, it’s time to recap the rest of murals that we didn’t have time to focus on. Along with local artists, the muralists travelled from all over the world (like Defer &  Norm whose calligraphy made a perfect background to Kamea Hadar’s overlaid face) to beautify the industrial district of Kaka’ako in Honolulu and to share in the aloha spirit. Enjoy the rest of the images below and see you next year! Discuss POW WOW here. Photo credit: […]

Curated by Graffuturism founder and artist Poesia (interviewed), A Major Minority gathers A4 sized works from over 100 artists in 18 countries from what he likes to call “Othercontemporay Urban Art.” He states “because Urban Art has been misunderstood and ignored by institutions and their current version of art history, it was necessary to attempt to initiate and standardize a unique term that would augment and define this outsider art form.” Opening on March 14th at 1:AM Gallery  in San Franscico, the show aims to illustrate the large scope of this art […]

POW! WOW! ’14 / Streets: Andrew Schoultz & Hannah Stouffer

Another collaboration that grabbed our attention during this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii was a long joint mural from Andrew Schoultz and Hannah Stouffer. The waves and kinetic imagery from Schoultz provided a nice contrast to the softer forest renderings and volcanic eruptions of Stouffer, providing an interesting continous landscape for the people who pass by in the industrial district of Kaka’ako. Take a look at some closer shots as well as in-progress pics below… Photos credit: saL. Discuss POW WOW here. Discuss Andrew Schoultz here.
