Upcoming: Phlegm – “The Bestiary” @ Howard Griffin Gallery

February 1st will be the public opening for Phlegm’s newest solo show to be held at the Howard Griffin Gallery in London. Entitled appropriately The Bestiary, the exhibition will be an illustrated compendium of strange creatures, often seen in the Sheffield-based street muralist’s imagery. With installations and murals planned as well as few surprises, this show is a must-see for those in the area. Discuss Phlegm here.

On February 22nd of 2011, an earthquake struck the city of Christchurch, New Zealand leaving 185 people dead and ultimately 16,000 homes inhabitable. Streets: Invader (Hong Kong)

After hitting the slopes earlier this month in the Swiss Alps so spread his signature imagery to the great outdoors, Invader has traveled to one of the densely populated places in the world. Hitting the streets of Hong Kong has its own set of problems, as fellow French artist Zevs discovered in 2009. It looks like Invader had a more successful run including debuting some new work including site-appropriate references to Kung Fu Master and Hong Kong Phooey. Discuss Invader here.

Openings: Ernest Zacharevic – “Art Is Rubbish Is Art” (Malaysia)

Last week in Malaysia, Ernest Zacharevic opened a solo show at the Old Hin Bus Depot, mirroring his street work with paintings indoors as well as multiple installations and murals outdoors (more on these later). Releases: Sainer – “Sweet Dreams” Lithograph

Paris-based online gallery PrintThemAll.com released a lithograph edition by the Polish artist Sainer, who together with Bezt, form the infamous Etam Cru. Coinciding with the opening of his sold out solo show in Paris (covered), this was a true fine art release from the young artist. Limited to only 50 pieces, all signed and numbered by Sainer, this edition was created at the Idem Studio in Paris. Upcoming: Bumblebeelovesyou – “Bee Yourself” Popup Show

On January 23rd (6 – 9 pm), Bumblebeelovesyou will be holding a popup show in Los Angeles entitled Bee Yourself in Los Angeles (4621 West Washington Blvd).  This will be the first solo show from the LA-based street artist and will continue the socially and environmentally conscious direction often seen in his work. Of course, there will be plenty of riffs on his namesake seen in his imagery. The exhibition runs until January 26 with regular hours of 12 – 8 pm. Discuss Bumblebeelovesyou here.
