Openings: Steve Powers, Greg Gossel & Greg Lamarche – “Get Over It” @ Show & Tell Gallery

Steve Powers, Greg Gossel (interviewed) and Greg Lamarche gave our neighbors up North a taste of their respective typographical style, comic book and pop culture inspired imagery and a bit of NYC graffiti meets fine art, with their group show “Get Over It” at Toronto’s Show & Tell Gallery. With a strong body of work from all three artists, this show pleased old fans and undoubtedly resulted in creating some new ones as well. See all the photos from the opening after the jump.

Openings: Lance Armstrong LIVESTRONG x Nike Stages Exhibition @ Galerie Emmanuel Perrotin

Lance Armstrong and Nike Sportswear’s “Stages” exhibition (previewed here and here) opened up with an amazing roster of artists. As Geoff McFetridge put it, “It’s a veritable ‘A-Team’ of top artists from all walks of the art world.” With names such as Ed Ruscha, Tom Sachs, Eric White, Christopher Wool, Shepard Fairey, Kaws, Cai Guo-Qiang, Yoshitomo Nara, Jose Parla, Richard Prince and Raymond Pettibon to name a few, it was quite a feat to put together this team of prominent artists who banded together for a […]

Looks like Studiocromie is getting ready to release this beautiful screen-printed ceramic plate by Dave Kinsey. These will be a limited edition and will cost about 220 euros. This should not come as a surprise as the FAME Festival this year, also put on by Studiocromie, is encouraging artists to work with ceramics as well.  Take a look at the signature on the back of the plate as well as a picture of the ceramic workshop after the jump…

Openings: The Date Farmers – “Rope Gold Chain” @ Andenken Gallery

AM recently featured the insane “A Volta” music video collaboration between N.A.S.A. and The Date Farmers and last weekend, the Cochella-based Date Farmers made a trip out to Andenken Gallery in Colorado for their solo “Rope Gold Chain,” bringing their unique blend of acrylic and mixed-media objects on found materials with them. Their unconventional canvases serve as the perfect medium for the raw and uncut style of this duo and echos their message of finding beauty in the most unexpected places. See the photos from the […]

Openings: Jaybo – “Headscape: Tales From the Drifters” @ Signal Gallery

Berlin-based artist, Jaybo (aka Monk), opened his show “Headscape: Tales From the Drifters” in London this weekend at the Signal Gallery (interviewed) in London. This show from the versatile artist focuses on his portrait style of painting as well as several large murals.  The distorted and contorted faces in this body of work certainly convey a raw emotion that leaves a lasting impression in the viewer’s mind.  Particularly striking is his use of color – brilliant reds that contrast and draw our attention to each […]

Streets: WK Interact in NYC

AM continues to be blown away by the explosive power of WK Interact. For “Motion Portrait,” his current show at Jonathan Levine Gallery (covered), the Frenchman created a series of pieces entitled “Twelve Angry Men.” These works personify the prejudice, turmoil and conflict experienced in the classic play and film. In his recent video press conference, WK hinted that he would be taking his portraits out on the streets. We are very happy to report that he has remained true to his word. Not only do we agree […]

Using his trademark technique of “liquidation,” Zev showed the trendy residents of Hong Kong his reinterpretation of Murakami x Louis Vuitton’s famous “multi colore” pattern among one of many iconic logos he […]
