Tate Liverpool is currently staging the first retrospective of Keith Haring’s work in the UK. The exhibition touches on Haring’s early investigations into semiotics, where he was deconstructing, deciphering and seeking the meaning attached to language. The show includes examples of him creating a vocabulary of geometric shapes but also, atypically for a young artist, how he consciously moved away from abstraction because he felt it “wasn’t really communicating to the outside world.” His work retained the foundational structure provided by William S. Shepard Fairey (interviewed) recently unveiled a mural featuring his iconic imagery on the rooftop of Great Bowery, a fashion and art agency collective in Manhattan. Wrapped around a water tower (one of our favorite things to see painted), the piece entitled Power & Equality was meant to celebratet the LES Girls Club and board member Rosario Dawson for everything they do in the neighborhood. Streets: Eron // QUAI 36 (France)

A couple months ago, Eron was able to complete a striking new mural for Phase I of the QUAI 36 project in France centered just outside of Paris in Versailles. Painted in his signature sepia, the piece featuring hands grabbing and releasing doves highlighting the Italian street artist’s skill with the trompe l’oeil technique. Meant to beautify the area where the 1096 social housing units were built in the 1960s, the wall marks Eron’s first public work in France. Working in Toulouse for the third Rose Beton Festival (see 2016), Mark Jenkins (interviewed) has created a duo of striking installations so far (with two more to come). Utilizing the human form, the American artist stages disconcerting urban interventions of which these first two pieces are prime examples. Releases: Saber – “LA River” Print

With the release of the LA River print from SABER (interviewed), fans have a chance to own a part of graffiti history. The LA writer was recently on the TV show To Tell The Truth, which put a spotlight on the Los Angeles River piece he painted in 1997 (hailed as the world’s largest graffiti piece at the time). The large format edition of 100 is sized at 24 x 35 inches with an embellished signature and can be purchased here. Discuss Saber here.

Recently at Complexcon in Chicago, Felipe Pantone was on hand to present his collaboration with Hennessy on his design for the V.S Cognac Bottle. Featuring his special form of glitch effects and optical art, the event featured original pieces, wall graphics from the project, as well as samples of the product, kicking off with the help of rapper A$AP Ferg. The Argentinian-Spanish artist follows in the line of some distinguished artists such as Kaws, Futura, Os Gemeos, Shepard Fairey, Ryan McGinness, and Scott Campbell who have previously worked on the bottle. Earlier today, another leg of the Asian KAWS:HOLIDAY tour (see Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong) was unveiled at the Fumotoppara Camping Ground in Japan with the iconic Mt. Fuji looming in the background (on view through July 24). Teaming up with AllRightsReserved again to present larger than life versions of his signature Companion figure, the American artist has opted this time for a massive reclined 40-meter inflatable.
