Streets: Waone / Interesni Kazki (Varkala, India)

Not long after the duo’s US debut show (covered), Interesni Kazki’s Waone flew to Varkala, India, where he painted his first black and white mural. The Ukrainian artist, known for his surreal public works, colorful paintings, and elaborate drawings, was able to fulfill his goal of creating a B&W mural, resulting in this striking wall being painted on a local rooftop with the help of his family and friends. Waone fell in love with the lines of rare engravings when he visited the library at the St. Ottilien Abbey in Germany back […]

Streets: Waone & AEC (Interesni Kazki), Perth

Ukrainian artists Waone & AEC from Interesni Kazki (interviewed) recently spent a few weeks in Western Australia, working on their murals for the local Form Festival in Perth (more coverage here). The artists were painting on separate walls of the same building in the Northbridge area, bringing a taste of their surrealist and meaningful work to the city. Working in a place with a much history and tradition, both pieces full of symbolism were heavily influenced by the local Aboriginal culture. Waone painted a piece titled Rainbow Serpent, […]

As much as they are known for their colorful, fairy tale like, surrealistic murals, paintings and illustrations, Ukrainian art duo Interesni Kazki (interviewed) are also known for their love for traveling, especially to remote, more spiritual regions of the world. Taking inspiration from local traditions, beliefs and different lifestyles, AEC and Waone recently spent time traveling through India again. During their travels, they stayed in the Kerala aka Keralam region, a state in the south-west region of India on the Malabar coast, where they created a couple […]

Streets: Waone (Interesni Kazki) in India

Waone, a member of Interesni Kazki (interviewed) together with AEC, recently spent some time in the South India. Known for his love for travels and appreciating ancient cultures and traditions, the Ukrainian artist left an unusual mark in this remote part of the world. The mural he created is not as nearly as big or complex as the other walls we’re used to seeing  from this duo, but the message behind it is very powerful. Titled Time For Change, this mural is strongly affected by the worrying […]
