Openings: Aiko – “Love Monster” @ Joshua Liner

AM was out in Chelsea last Saturday night to attend the opening of AIKO’s solo show “Love Monster” at Joshua Liner Gallery. And Lady Aiko didn’t disappoint, filling the entire gallery with eye-popping works, from floor to ceiling mixed-media canvases to striking stenciled windows to an installation of stenciled paint cans. By all accounts, the show is a must see. But for those who can’t get there in person, check out the pics after the jump.

Preview: Ron English – “Lazarus Rising” @ Elms Lester

After hanging with Ron English at Dr. Sketchy’s, he invited AM over to his Jersey City studio to check out his upcoming solo show at Elms Lester. The show entitled “Lazarus Rising” is Ron’s first ever UK solo and is his second with Elms Lester. The show opens to the general public May 8th and will run through June 6th. Takashi Murakami – Inochi Exhibit @ Kaikai KiKi

It seems that some shows get all the glitz & glamour, and some shows just slide in & out without much ruckus. But one things for sure, high profile or not, Takashi Murakami and his Kaikai Kiki juggernaut do not half-step anything. Preview: Aaron Jasinski “Tractus Secretum” @ Distinction Gallery

Aaron Jasinski has a new show at Distinction Gallery opening this Saturday, April 11th. Entitled “Tractus Secretum” (Latin for “Secret Space of Time”), the show brings back Aaron’s unique moody blend of characters, robots, and animals, in surrealistic landscapes. His colorful pieces often stir memories of a distant past but also tickles the imagination. Yesterday, David Choe unveiled his latest series of works in Beijing at PYO Gallery. As you saw in the preview, David hit the streets of China hard.
