AM stopped by the LES district last week in New York to catch the latest show from Jonathan Viner and Elizabeth McGrath held at Sloan Fine Art (previewed). Last week Julia Chiang opened her latest show in New York’s Half Gallery. This exhibition Security Is Mostly A Superstition featured a room size installation of hand crafted ceramic white chains measuring in length from five to thirty feet. Saturday night, Martha Cooper (interviewed) launched a special group exhibition at LA’s Carmichael Gallery. If the upcoming Art In The Streets Exhibition at the MOCA is this year’s Superbowl for street & urban art, then consider this show the preceding playoffs.
