Releases: Ben Eine – “URBAN [E]” Cubes

The UK-based Ben Eine recently released a novel new three-dimensional art object that allows fans to add a unique representation of his typography to their collection. The limited edition cubes come signed and are presented in concrete, metal and wood, measuring 12 x 12 x 12 cm. They are produced by Fragile Ventures in a run of 100 and can be purchased here for £2,500.00. Discuss Ben Eine here.

Basel Week Miami ’14: Barry McGee Signing @ NADA Beats Booth

While visiting the NADA fair (more on that later), we stopped to take a look at the signing session at a special booth from Barry McGee for fans that purchased his limited edition Beats Pill. Created in conjunction with Beats By Dre, the product looks great with one of the Bay Area-based artist’s signature characters on the side. More photos can be seen below… Discuss Barry McGee here.

Basel Week Miami ’14: Snarkitecture Installation @ Shop Alchemist

There is still time for those in town for Basel Week Miami to stop by the Airball installation created by Daniel Arsham of design studio Snarkitecture and the Miami Beach based Alchemist. Open through tomorrow on level 5 of the the Herzog & de Neuron designed parking garage (1111 Lincoln Road), site of another event in 2013, the specially designed basketball arcade-style games are the main attraction along with some goodies for sale. One of the releases coinciding with Basel Week Miami is this wicked project between Maya Hayuk and DJ / producer Sid Vaga. The idea behind this release was that “the best collaborations come from two voices that create a third, unique voice.” Known for creating art that is inspired by the neon lights and party culture, this is not the first time Hayuk has mixed art with music. Last Saturday night, Soze Gallery in Los Angeles opened a group exhibition that highlighted the form of the Modernica chair, seen through the lens of each participant’s artistic vision. Friends and artists who show with the gallery, created custom one of a kind versions of the chair with their signature styles and techniques with part of the proceeds going to benefit The Art Of Elysium, a non-profit organization that brings empowering artistic programs to children in the local hospitals in the area. This Saturday, the 1st of November, LA’s Soze Gallery will be opening a group exhibition in collaboration with the Modernica furniture company. The company that keeps the spirit of Modernism movement alive with their products, teamed up with the West Hollywood showspace for an unique charity event. For this show, artists will create custom painted fiberglass shell chairs, made on the original Herman Miller equipment. Recap: MyFinBec Pop Up Show (Berlin)

After their inaugural show at their winery in Sion, Switzerland, the MyFinBec project (introduced) toured around Europe showing the commissioned artworks at pop up shows in Cologne, London, Rome, and now has finally reached Berlin. Featuring eight original artworks, small scale murals painted on 672 wood wine cases in total, by the likes of Vhils, Herakut, C215, and Etam Cru, these unique events were a perfect mixture of art and wine tasting. Releases: James Jean – TMNT Figures

Going back to his comic book roots, James Jean (interviewed) revealed a project over the weekend at New York Comic Con that he has been working on with Good Smile. The Japanese manufacturer of hobby products is teaming up with Nickelodeon and Jean to create new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures based on his illustrations.
