Fans came out by the hundreds and waited for hours in a line that stretched down La Cienega Blvd. to check out artist and designer KAWS’ latest solo exhibition entitled, “The Long Way Home,” which opened last night at Honor Fraser. Update: Josh Keyes

Josh Keyes recently revealed two new paintings he has completed entitled “Flutter” and “Scorch.” With his participation in the SCOPE NY art fair (which AM will cover) in March and his upcoming solo in May at David B. Smith Gallery, we suspect these will make their appearance at one of these venues. With his predilection for creating works in series, look for him to explore these themes a little more as he fleshes out his new body of work. Discuss Josh Keyes here.

AM dropped by Brandt Peters’ solo show â€œCackle Factoryâ€ (interviewed/previewed) which runs through February 27th at Gallery 1988 LA.Â Â As you will see from theÂ photos,Â the scuptures andÂ customs round out this body of work nicely.Â His unique color palette and details are much more impressive in person so make sure you stop by for a look as there is only one more week left for the exhibition.Â Â See all the photos after the jump.

On the eve before his solo show at Honor Fraser, KAWS kicked things off with, “I Can’t Feel My Face,” a VIP party and art exhibition at Culver City’s Japanese-style maid cafe Royal/T. Party-goers were surrounded with a stunning array of artwork and sculptural pieces from over 25 contemporary artists, hand-picked by KAWS from owner and collector Susan Hancock’s collection. Christie’s will be auctioning off the eclectic collection of the late Yves Saint Laurent next week starting Feb 23rd. The incredible collection of nearly 700 artworks were accumulated over decades by Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre BergÃ© valued at up to $425 million including Old Master drawings, Roman sculptures, Renaissance bronzes and works by Ingres, GÃ©ricault, Frans Hals, Picasso, Matisse, Braque, LÃ©ger and Mondrian. Â AM had the chance to stop by Joshua Liner GalleryÂ to check out two great shows: Unexpected Occurrences by Oliver VernonÂ and Unfinished Business by CrashÂ (previewed). Both of these artists took us by surprise with their unique styles. Crash has long been regarded as one of the pioneers of graffiti art, but we noticed his worksÂ broughtÂ a mix of Lichtenstein meets the streets. Marcel Dzama recently collaborated with David Byrne on this video from N.A.S.A. featuring the track “The People Tree.” This isn’t Marcel’s first foray into the music field as he has done album cover work in the past for artists such as They Might Be Giants and Beck.
