Streets: Peter Regli – “Snow Monsters” (New York)

Now through March 13th, Peter Regli’s Snow Monsters will be on view at Flatiron’s North Public Plaza in New York. The timely installation, presented by the Dominique Lévy Gallery in partnership with the NYC DOT Art Program and the Flatiron/23rd Street Partnership is just the latest project in the Swiss artist’s continuing Reality Hacking series, number 320 to be exact since 1996. The new work fits perfectly with his practice of “transforming existing elements in the streetscape or by inserting sculptures into an almost too-familiar setting.” As you can see from the photos, combined with the […]

Openings: Mark Jenkins – “Moment of Impact” @ Lazarides Rathbone

Last week, Mark Jenkins (interviewed) premiered his debut solo show with Lazarides Rathbone entitled Moment of Impact. For his fans in London, the American artist has assembled a selection of provocative mixed media canvases and hyper-realist sculptures. Some pieces like his masked full-size figures are direct translations of his street interventions while others are produced for the gallery setting like the leg which seems to be bursting through a canvas or arms committing seppuku. Enjoy more photos below… Photo credit: Nathalie Thery & Lazarides. Discuss Mark Jenkins here.

Coming up in February, the New York City Ballet will be collaborating with their third artist – Dustin Yellin (also see Faile & JR) – in series of special shows. The new pieces, which are extensions of his ongoing Psychogeographies series, will have his subjects put into motion, a nod toward the dancers and their craft. The NYCB third presentation of their Art […]
