Frieze Art Fair ’13 : Highlights (London) – Part 2

Frieze London is one of the world’s leading art fairs and this year it took place from the 17th – 20th of October in Regent’s Park. For its 11th edition, the fair hosted 152 galleries which attracted around 70,000 during the six days of the opening of both Frieze London and Frieze Masters. To enhance visitor experience at Frieze London, capacity was reduced this year, and for the first time, tickets sold out every day. Openings: Beyond Eden 2013

Last weekend, the fourth Beyond Eden art fair opened its doors at the Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery at Barnsdall Park. Great crowds of art lovers showed up to support the various galleries (Thinkspace, C.A.V.E Gallery, Copro Gallery, and Spoke Art) and the artists represented. Some highlights were as special presentation recognizing Greg Escalante’s contributions to the LA art scene, the first showing of Chet Zar’s Ego Death project, as well as the Bird’s Eye View and Wild At Heart II group exhibitions. Moniker Art Fair, one of the events on the week’s busy schedule in London, opened with a private view on the 17th of October. Frieze Art Fair ’13 : Highlights (London) – Part 1

Frieze Art Fair returns to London from 17 to 20 October 2013 showcasing 152 galleries from around the world. The inaugural edition of STRARTA fair was opened this weekend at Saatchi Gallery, at the very beginning of London art week. With Basel Week Switzerland coming to an end, here is a look at the Thinkspace Gallery booth at the SCOPE art fair. The showing focused on the works Audrey Kawasaki (interviewed) and Esao Andrews with both artists continuing to show progression in their aesthetic. Kawasaki’s new paintings this time were solely created on dark backgrounds, something that not commonly seen in high numbers in one body of work, which contrasted nicely with her choice of vibrant colors to complement her seductive muses.
