Teaser: POW WOW (Hawaii)

Coming up in February, after it’s debut in Hong Kong last year, the second annual POW WOW will make it’s appearance in Hawaii. The event, which will feature live art, is the brainchild of Jasper Wong (Above Second), is a gathering of creative minds including artists 123Klan, Jeff Hamada, Meggs, Will Barras, and Wu Yue along with local artists Jesico Serrano, Kamea Hadar, and Prime. So, it looks like Adam Wallacavage is hard at work setting up for his show in Sao Paulo, Brazil at Choque Cultural. Here you can see the gallery from the back with one of his signature octopi chandeliers ready to go. Make sure you check out a studio visit and interview that our friends at Hi-Fructose conducted with the Philadelphia-based artist to catch more glimpses of the fantastic sculptural pieces he has in store for this show. Swiss contemporary artist Andy Denzler will be dispatching a new body of work down to Seoul, Korea for an upcoming solo exhibition with Michael Shultz Gallery. Opening Thursday, Janurary 27th, the talented oil painter will show a selection of his uniquely constructed works, deliberately fragmenting his landscape based portraits in unusual ways. You may remember back at 2009’s Art Basel in Miami, we became enamored with the work of SF based artist Laura Ball. Well, we are delighted to learn that she will be showing a new body of work entitled “Growing Pains” at the David B. Smith Gallery in Denver alongside Ryan McLennan at the end of the month. We’ll have more to follow but for now, enjoy this complex animal assemblage painting from the upcoming show.
