Preview: “Momentum” @ Nucleus Gallery

An interesting mix of artists are exhibiting together tomorrow night at the Nucleus Gallery, including Tiffany Bozic (above), Chigi, In Kyung Lim, Tessar Lo, Veronique Meignaud, and Brooks Salzwedel.  Of particular interest to us is seeing how the work of Bozic and Lo has progressed since their last shows at Fecal Face Gallery (covered) and LeBasse Projects (covered) respectively.  Our friend Commandax wrote up a nice article about Lo’s abstract evolution here. More preview images after the jump for this group show.

Streets: WK Interact in NYC

AM continues to be blown away by the explosive power of WK Interact. For “Motion Portrait,” his current show at Jonathan Levine Gallery (covered), the Frenchman created a series of pieces entitled “Twelve Angry Men.” These works personify the prejudice, turmoil and conflict experienced in the classic play and film. In his recent video press conference, WK hinted that he would be taking his portraits out on the streets. We are very happy to report that he has remained true to his word. Not only do we agree […]

He was only 27 years old and leaves behind a 1-year old daughter named Secret and her mother, his partner Jade Berreau. Snow was one of the most promising young artists to emerge from New York City and was an inspiration and influence to many other artists in the area, many of whom were long-time close friends […]

Openings: Zevs – “Liquidated Logos” @ Art Statements Gallery (Hong Kong)

AM stopped by Zevs’ “Liquidated Logos” exhibition at the Art Statements Gallery in Hong Kong to bring you an exclusive first look at this wild show. Using his trademark technique of “liquidation,” Zev showed the trendy residents of Hong Kong his reinterpretation of Murakami x Louis Vuitton’s famous “multi colore” pattern among one of many iconic logos he […]

Studio Visits/Interviews: Jason Thielke – “New Works” @ David B. Smith Gallery

On our recent trip to Denver to see Josh Keyes’ “Sprout” exhibition, AM met with Jason Thielke, who’s latest solo show entitled simply “New Works” opens this Friday, July 17th at the new downtown location of the David B. Smith Gallery. We’ve been interested in Thielke’s work for a while now, and in particular his technique utilizing a method he calls gel transfer, which results in an aesthetic delight of super-clean vector-like line work. Recently, he has changed things up a bit and is now […]

Zevs Arrested Ahead of “Liquidated Logos” Show @ Art Statements Gallery (Hong Kong)

As has been reported on several websites and confirmed by Dominique Perregaux, owner of Art Statements Gallery, French street artist Zevs has been arrested for “bombing” a Chanel logo in Central, Hong Kong.  He was apparently demonstrating to the residents of HK his famous technique ahead of his aptly named show “Liquidated Logos” at Art Statements Gallery this Thursday night. Zevs chose 3 am as the time for “liquidation,” but true to HK’s reputation as the “city that never sleeps,” a passerby reported him to […]

Video: Vhils – “Scratching The Surface”

AM has been very impressed by Vhils’ first UK solo show “Scratching The Surface“, which recently opened at Lazarides Rathbone Place. A video has just been released which documents the artist’s process of installation in the gallery. It’s great to see more footage of Alexandre taking his hammer and chisel to the wall to carve out his exquisite portraits. See the video here. Discuss this show here. Discuss Vhils here.

Now, AM takes a closer look at the two wheeled beauties from Yoshitomo Nara (seen above), Shepard Fairey, Futura, Marc Newson, Barry McGee, and KAWS, as well as a sneak-peek at the bike from Damien Hirst, which […]
