Showing: Austin Lee – “Serious Works” @ Kaikai Kiki Gallery

On March 3rd, Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Motoazabu, Tokyo, opened a debut Japan solo exhibition by American artist Austin Lee. Serious Works is sort of a parody title for a show that consists of paintings and sculptures done in Lee’s colorful, naive style. For this showcase, the NYC-based artist created an extensive installation within the gallery space. His large animal mural and chess board floor pattern make an eclectic environment in which his playful and poppy imagery feels at home and well presented. His sculptural piece titled Duo, a bubble gum-like […]

Updates: Pejac – “Redemption” Series

Redemption is the title of the newest series of monochrome pieces that Pejac recently worked on in his studio. Consisting of six new pieces created with pencil and ink on pressed wood panels, they once again show the artist’s unique way in perceiving the world and finding inspiration in most unexpected places. After creating countless public works in which he incorporates the elements of the surroundings, the Barcelona-based artist found a way to paint studio works in a similar manner. Using the common pressed wood panel as the […]

Adam Neate (interviewed) just released one of his peculiar dimensional paintings as a handmade multiple edition in collaboration with Elm Lesters Painting Rooms. Using variety of techniques and the highest standard of materials, the artist and the gallery managed to produce a striking edition of classic Neate portraits. This edition sees him stepping away from the series of expressive and abstract portraiture that the Brighton-based artist introduced as his first dimensional work back in 2009. Extensively refining the concept over the years, he produced a whole body of work […]

AM recently had the pleasure of stopping by the studio of legendary graffiti writer & artist Crash (featured) at his Bronx work space. As the title of the show indicates, The Collaborations builds on a concept which started over two years ago on the Lower East Side where Nick, Crash & Bio created a mural on Elizabeth street, […]
