Fashion: Yoskay Yamamoto x Big Bad Wolf Tee Release

Some of our friends behind POW! WOW! recently started Big Bad Wolf with the goal of bringing street inspired fashion, art and culture down to the little ones. Their current plan is to release a limited edition artist tee once a month and kickstarting things is a design by Yoskay Yamamoto (interviewed). Releases: VNA 27 – Aryz Cover

VNA magazine just revealed the contents and the look of the limited edition of their newest issue #27 that will be available tonight at the official release party @ StolenSpace in London. With Aryz as their cover artist, the magazine released 3 different covers – regular, subscription and the limited one. The limited edition comes packed in a screen printed box, has a screen printed cover, and includes some neat Aryz stickers. Streets: Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans – Mexico Expedition

A couple of weeks ago Pangeaseed.org wrapped up another praiseworthy project on the island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico – Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans – Mexico Expedition. For this event that took place from July 20-28, they invited a group of international artists to help raise awareness for the conservation of the ocean.  Similar to what they did with POW! WOW! Previews: Kamea Hadar & Defer – “Paradise Lost” @ 1AM SF

After their mural collaboration for POW! WOW! Hawaii earlier this year (covered), Hawaii-based artists Kamea Hadar and Defer (seen above adding his calligraphic embellishments to Hadar’s figurative imagery) began a year-long series of collaborative walls, gallery shows and other creative projects. On this note, this Thursday, August 7th, they will be opening a show together at 1AM Gallery in San Francisco, showing a new body of mixed media works on canvas. Streets: Tristan Eaton (Honolulu)

POW! WOW! recently completed another exciting project in their hometown of Honolulu. A few months after wrapping up another successful edition of POW! WOW! Hawaii (covered), they teamed up with Versace in order to create a large scale mural to celebrate the opening of their new flagship store. Located on one of the most prominent streets of the city, this wall was painted by Tristan Eaton who was invited by the curator Jasper Wong. Showing: Brendan Monroe & Evah Fan – “Black and Night” @ Shimokitazawa Books

While in Taiwan for POW! WOW! Taiwan, husband and wife Brendan Monroe and Evah Fan took the opportunity to show together at Shimokitazawa Books. Entitled Black and Night, the exhibition featured a small selection of Monroe’s topographic “Black” ink drawings and Fan’s characters floating among the stars of the “Night” sky. Previews: Thinkspace – “LAX / TXL” & Project M/4 (Berlin)

As previously announced, the Urban Nation project in Berlin is continuing with their fourth phase which includes a pop-up exhibition and mural project curated by Andrew Hosner of Thinkspace. Titled LAX / TXL, the show is opening on Saturday, May 17th in Berlin, and will feature works from an impressive rooster of artists. Similar to their Exploring The New Contemporary Movement show during this year’s POW! WOW! event in Hawaii (covered), this showing is the Culver City gallery’s effort in introducing the artists and their work to a wider audience. […]
