As we previously reported, Arkitip is putting out a special collaboration issue with Shepard Fairey andÂ the release is right around the corner. To celebrate theÂ launch of Issue 51 and all it’s Obey goodies, ALIFE is transforming their Hollywood retail location into a mini-gallery to host the release with Mr. Fairey. It seems that Shepardâ€™s recentÂ dramaÂ with the AP and Boston’s finest doesn’t phase the higher-ups in the Contemporary Art world. AM has learned that Shepard Fairey’sÂ debut solo museum exhibition “Supply and Demand,” which opened (covered)Â at the Boston ICA in February, will be traveling to at least two other museums. Shepard Fairey did some urban “spring cleaning” in Austin this past weekend in time for the SXSW Festival. Visiting the Lone Star state with buckets of wheat paste and some good old fashion Obey elbow grease, Shepard hit up many prominent spots including Lance Armstrong’s Bike Shop: Mellow Johnny’s, Red 7, Emos, Home Slice, and many more. Street artist Shepard Fairey was featured in an awesome segment on CBS News Sunday Morning. The video features an in-depth interview, provides a look at his “Supply & Demand” retrospective at ICA Boston (covered), discusses his recent arrest (covered) and legal issues with the AP, and contains some great footage of a young Fairey from the documentary “Andre the Giant Has a Posse.” Note: There is a brief twenty second CBS commercial preceding the video. Marcel Dzama recently collaborated with David Byrne on this video from N.A.S.A. featuring the track “The People Tree.” This isn’t Marcel’s first foray into the music field as he has done album cover work in the past for artists such as They Might Be Giants and Beck.
