On Friday, December 19th, TIME Magazine will release its “Person of the Year” issue. The winner… President Elect Barack Obama. He will get the cover of the magazine of course, but what image/photograph did Time use? AM stopped by to visit Jonathan Levine, who was on hand to showcase Shepard Fairey’s work at Scope. Shepard created some gigantic murals to go along with the exclusive stencil works on paper and record albums. Unlike most Shepard Fairey shows where the buyers names are put on a list for a chance to purchase art, Levine made these works available only to the people who attended the show and on a first come-first serve basis. Last night, Shepard Fairey premiered his newest image for Barack Obama entitled “VOTE”. How fitting that he unveiled this new image in the nation’s capital. Shepard and his boys hit the ground running Wednesday afternoon, even after a grueling cross country red-eye earlier in the morning.
