Opening Friday night (October 5th) in Copenhagen at the V1 Gallery, Free To be You & Me is the newest solo show from Todd James. The imagery in this new body work continues to be dominated by his colorful chain-smoking pirate characters, brandishing weapons and causing mischief. The NY graf legend, otherwise known as REAS, will also be installing a recreation of the Vandal’s Bedroom (seen above) that premiered at the Art In The Streets exhibition at the MOCA in Los Angeles. Fans of the New York-based Todd James will be able to greet their hometown hero 6-8 pm on Thursday night (September 20th) at The Standard in New York where he will be releasing his new book – Yield to Temptation. Described as “a love triangle for the ages, confounding flesh and reason, for all eternity,” James Jean’s (featured) new limited edition offering is printed on silk. The nine color silkscreen print is 36 x 36″, produced in a run of 100, and comes with signed and embossed certificate of authenticity. Our astute readers will notice that the imagery for this new scarf comes from one of the pieces, Duelist, displayed at our City Of Fire exhibition in Beverly Hills. Purchase it here. Having a good friend like James Jean (featured) certainly came in handy for one lucky couple as the LA-based artist was asked to design special wedding invitations for them. It looks to be fabricated in a similar fashion to the stunning wood piece he created for our City Of Fire show based on the union of two animals from the Chinese Zodiac – the ox and snake. Futura x Hennessy Launch Party (Los Angeles)

Last night, Hennessy held the Los Angeles premiere (see NY launch here) of the VS cognac bottle designed by Futura at an exclusive launch party held at the Milk Studios in Hollywood. The special bottle is a continuation of the brand’s collaboration with high profile artists (see KAWS) and it seemed that no expense was spared with Diplo and Santigold on hand to entertain the crowd. Tomorrow night (July 31st), in celebration of the US Open of Surfing 2012 (also see PUSH’s effort) and launch of the Phantom Fuse boardshort, Hurley presents STABILIMENTUM, an immersive new installation from James “Dalek” Marshall (interviewed).
