Openings: COPE2 – “World’s Famous Bubble!” @ Halvandet

Just last weekend, legendary Bronx writer COPE2 paid a visit to Copenhagen for the opening of his show at Halvandet. Not only did he bring a plethora of variations of his famous bubble tag, he also worked in an outdoor mural for his fans and was sighted at the Shepard Fairey show. On July 9th, the Black Book gallery in Denver will welcome Philip Lumbang & Ernesto Yerena (featured) for a collaborative show entitled Dead Relatives. The two Shepard Fairey disciples meld their own unique styles – Lumbang with his animal characters and Ernesto with his Chicano inspired collage work – together for some works inspired by Day of the Dead imagery. There will be 1-Off canvas and an edition of 3 HPM’s on paper for every image. More preview looks after the jump…

San Francisco, last weekend, hosted a slew of fine art fairs around the city. One noteworthy fair was the inaugural edition of ArtPadSF (held at the legendary Phoenix Hotel in the Tenderloin), which focused mainly on Bay Area galleries that feature contemporary and emerging art. On Tuesday night, Hollywood’s historic Egyptian Theatre unveiled the documentary, Outside In: The Story of Art in the Streets, created in the Levi’s Film Workshop and directed by the talented Alex Stapleton.
