Last weekend, the outdoor fields and indoor hanger Pima Art and Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona were the venues for the hand-painted vintage planes of The Boneyard Project: Return Trip. Last Friday, Exhibit A opened up its gallery doors to a multitude of artists all paying tribute to the legendary heavy metal band Metallica. Titled Obey Your Master, the exhibit featured artists such as Shepard Fairey, Travis Louie, David Stoupakis, Nicola Verlato, Brian Viveros, and Richard Villa III just to name a few. Over the weekend, the Robert Berman Gallery presented an exhibit titled Just Occupy which gathered a collection of photography from photojournalists Ted Soqui and Christopher Felver, as well as works from Shepard Fairey (featured). Last week, the Mary Boone Gallery hosted the largest collection of Ai Weiwei’s Sunflower Seeds that we have seen since his triumphant exhibition in London at the Tate Modern in 2010. Although much smaller in scale when compared to that museum showing which included 100 million pieces, seeing so many of these tiny porcelain seeds piled together really gives the viewer a sense of the amazing amount of work that went into the production. Releases: David Flores – “Deathead”

Not only has David Flores been busy in the streets and in the gallery, he has also been working on a new figure entitled Deathead. The 10″ tall reinterpretation of Mickey melded with Totenkopf symbol utilized by the Prussian army during the time of Frederick the Great will be produced by Bic Plastics and reportedly come in five colorways.
