Openings: Ian Francis – “Endless Summer” @ Outsiders

Following his exhibition 10,000 Years From Now at Lazarides Rathbone (covered here) back in 2012, the Bristol-based Ian Francis (featured) has returning to London for a solo exhibition Endless Summer at The Outsiders. Blending photorealism with abstract landscapes, the new body of work features a series of same sized intimate studies that encapsulate a collection of multiple narratives and disparate moments in time. Openings: Adam Neate – “Dimensionalism” @ Elms Lester

After two years, UK-based artist Adam Neate’s (interviewed) has returned to London with a new solo Dimensionalism at Elms Lester (showing until the 18th of October). Playing with perspective, painted shadows, space and sculptural form, the artist is pushing further his exploration of 3D paintings. Openings: Mobstr – Sex, Drugs & Painting Canvases

UK-based artist Mobstr (interviewed) recently launched his solo exhibition Sex, Drugs & Painting Walls Canvases at The Old Truman Brewery in London. Following his public works (covered here), the minimalistic street artist has created black and white canvases with witty text messages, flyers to support a ‘save the trees’ campaign, and a series of installations from dummy spray painters to the re-creation of the artist at work surrounded by a sea of draft messages. Openings: Miaz Brothers – “Dematerialized: A New Contemporary Vision” @ Lazarides

Italian contemporary painters Miaz Brothers recently debuted their soldout UK solo exhibition at Lazarides Rathbone titled Dematerialized: A New Contemporary Vision. The show features a selection of large portrait paintings from their Antimatter series, utilizing the layering of spraypaint to create a special blurry effect. Upon close look, the paintings look abstract, but from a distance, portraits are revealed. A selection of sculptures are also on display. The show runs until June 15th. Photo credit: Butterfly.

Leading female street artists Miss Van and Olek recently opened their two-person show at StolenSpace Gallery in London (previewed here). Based on their strong friendship and artistic sisterhood, both show their mutual appreciation for each other work . Miss Van’s new body of work titled Glamorous Darkness features her signature ‘poupées’ (dolls) in a series of dreamlike landscapes and colours. After 15 years, Brooklyn-based artist and filmmaker Julian Schnabel returns to London at the Dairy Art Centre, with an exhibition titled Every Angel Has a Dark Side. Bursting onto the New York art scene in the late 1970s, Julian Schnabel became one of America’s most famous living artists. But Schnabel’s artistic career was almost eclipsed by his second passion as a filmmaker. Having exhibited in Beijing, New York and LA (covered here), contemporary Chinese artist Zhang Huan opened his first UK solo show at Pace Gallery. Running until May 31, Spring Poppy Fields features fourteen new oil on linen paintings inspired by the artist’s travels to Buddhist sites in Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan and India, between 2011 and 2014. Using a pointillist technique, his colorful and psychedelic paintings provide the viewer with some optical illusions. Ahead of their upcoming exhibition opening on March 12th at the legendary patisserie and gallery, Maison Bertaux, in Soho, London, we met up with the all girl collective HYSTERIA in their Hastings studio.
