A show definitely worth checking out that is currently showing at Gallery 1988 in Los Angeles is Dan May’s (interviewed) new body of work – “Into the Wild”. We last saw his incredibly detailed paintings of gentle creatures and humanoids at the Rotofugi Gallery several months ago. This Friday, July 2nd, sees Emma Tooth’s debut museum showing open at Derby Museum and Art Gallery in an artistic showdown 250 years in the making!. Emma Tooth vs. Joseph Wright of Derby come together in “Extraordinary Portraits of Ordinary People”. AM thinks that Emma may have the edge over Joseph, with him being deceased and all, but we look forward to this bout featuring the two Derbyshire based painters. Streets: Banksy @ Glastonbury 2010

Glastonbury, the largest open-air music and performing arts festival in the world, opened last week in the UK. Along with a long and diverse list of music acts like the Pet Shop Boys, Snoop Dogg, Shakira, Norah Jones, Gorillaz, Mos Def, Stevie Wonder and Willie Nelson among many others, artists well known to us were on hand to throw up pieces all around the venue. Yesterday, we gave you a detailed look at KAWS’ first ever museum exhibition at the The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum. Simply mind boggling right? With the amount of great artwork and stunning installations, we almost missed this lone prototype vinyl figure encased on a simple pedestal.
