Streets: Nuart 2016 Murals (Part II)

The 16th edition of Nuart Festival brought some of the most popular street and urban artists to Stavanger, invited creatives that usually don’t work in public as well as few names that already participated in the festival years ago. Here is part II of our final recap (see part I here) of Nuart 2016 and the murals, public works and interventions created in the last couple of weeks. One of the highlights this year was surely Robert Montgomery with the conceptual, poetic pieces that have been shown at the […]

Releases: Nuart Festival 2016 Box Set

In collaboration with Nuart Gallery (former Reed Projects), Nuart Festival has released an exclusive series of signed limited edition prints to support this year’s event. The box set consists of a total of 14 prints measuring 12” (30 x 30cm), one from each of this year’s participating artists. Each box set consists of 6 gicleé and 8 hand-pulled screen prints, giving a chance for collectors to own part of Nuart history while helping to fund the festival. Since this year’s iteration celebrates the 500th Anniversary of Thomas More’s Utopia, first published in 1516, […]

Upcoming: Nuart 2016 (Part I)

One of the world’s oldest street art festivals and the one that paved the way for other similar events around the globe, Nuart in Stavanger, Norway, recently started announcing the lineup for their 2016 edition. With half of the roster being publicly revealed, and AM being there to report from the 8th – 10th of September, we’re excited to share with you the artists that will be creating new exclusive work around Norway’s oil capital and inside the legendary Tou Scene. Marking two important anniversaries that relate to street […]

Streets / Recap: Cities of Hope (Manchester)

After sharing with you what Phlegm painted for Cities of Hope in Manchester, we now have photos from what the other artists contributed to the unique event. Hyuro, Pichiavo, Martin Whatson, C215, Faith47, Nevercrew, Axel Void, and Case also chose a local charity to link up with that battles with social issues while painting a mural to support the cause. Check out the finished pieces as well as in progress photos below which includes a piece by Hyuro (seen above) painted for 42nd Street, a charity that deals with […]

Previews: Hyuro – “Convivencia” @ Dorothy Circus Gallery

On June 9th, Dorothy Circus Gallery will be opening a solo show by Hyuro. Convivencia will be her first Italian show which will be followed by a new outdoor mural for the city of Rome as the fifth phase of the gallery’s Spray For Your Rights project. With both the mural and the new drawings as well as watercolors on paper produced for the show, the Argentinean artist will interpret the theme of coexistence. With this in mind, the new pieces have a somewhat different composition, often referring to the concept of […]

Updated: solidARTy.org (II)

We recently got an update from solidARTy.org that they are started another round of charity art auctions on their website. The project launched back in November by auctioning artworks donated by artists, galleries and studios, with 100% of the proceeds going to AreYouSyrious.org organization. So far they have raised over €20,000 for the cause and are now continuing their efforts by offering more original and rare, editioned work by world renowned street, urban and contemporary artists. Along with some of the pieces that didn’t sell previously, the […]

Streets: Brandalism / COP21 (Paris)

The Brandalism project started in 2012 in London when two friends, sick of the visual pollution of their city, spent five days reclaiming 36 billboards in five cities in the UK. Two years later, we saw reclamation of over 360 corporate advertising spaces with hand made original art works submitted by 40 international artists. This year, on the 28th December, The United Nations 21st ‘Conference of Parties’ aka Cop21 was the perfect backdrop for their biggest project to date. 600 posters were installed in outdoor media […]

Streets: World Roundup (Aug 4 – Aug 24)

With the return of our Streets: World Roundup feature, we first want to bring your attention to a new mural from Blu in Sardinia, Italy. The wall he painted once again showed his skills with large-scale imagery while working around architectural features of his surface. Also, the upside down toy soldiers are consistent with the Italian street artist’s penchant for politically charged public works. Other worthy walls come from Ernest Zacharevic – US, Satone – Germany, Seth – Puerto Rico, Bordalo II – Portugal (source), […]

Streets: World Roundup (Jul 21 – Aug 3)

Leading things off on this edition of our Streets: World Roundup is this new mural from Vhils (via Hookedblog) for the Phytology Project. The wall is situated on a side street just off Bethnal Green Road (the station end) in the Bethnal Green Nature Reserve and is part of a series of year-long artist commissions taking place in the reserve. More photos here for those interested. Other notable public works come from Ludo – Caribbean, Ladamenrouge – France, Jaz – Austria, Gaia x Cyrcle. – Austria […]
