Previews: Kelly Vivanco – “Peculiar Tides” @ Thinkspace Gallery

On September 13th, Thinkspace Gallery will be presenting new works from Kelly Vivanco in an exhibition entitled Peculiar Tides. As the title indicates, the Southern California-based painter will be taking her cast of characters and creature companions to new seaside and underwater locales. Upcoming: D*Face – “Scars & Stripes” (Los Angeles)

Streets: Faith47 – “The Preciousness of the Hunt” (Los Angeles)

Earlier this week, South African artist Faith47 made an appearance in Los Angeles where she painted a large-scale mural entitled The Preciousness of the Hunt. Brian Donelly aka KAWS is returning to Los Angeles for his third exhibition at Honor Fraser Gallery opening on the September 13th. On August 23rd, Dale vN Marshall opened Beauty in the Wound (previewed), his second solo show with Soze Gallery. Following his three month museum exhibition, Walls with Wounds, this elaborate show brings the more abstract and heavily textured works that Welsh artist has been developing lately. Florentijn Hofman’s Giant Rubber Duck (Los Angeles)

For fans in Los Angeles who looked at Hong Kong in envy as Florentijn Hofman’s giant “rubber” duck (covered) rolled into the harbor, your time has come. The whimsical inflatable childhood bath toy will be viewable at the Tall Ships Festival from August 20-24 starting today when the oversized duck (61 feet, 11 tons, about 85 feet wide and about 110 feet long) will lead the Grand Parade of Sail into San Pedro at 2 pm.
