KMNDZ (above) & Ekundayo’s (below) two-man show is set to open this Friday, October 10th at Thinkspace in the Silverlake district. Arrested Motion was invited to take a look at the installation process last night, as well as take some photos to share with our readers. Over the last several shows, it is becoming more apparent that Brendan Monroe is in the middle of a transition period. Although it can be argued that all artists are constantly evolving and technically always in “transition,” most collectors have noticed less and less figurative elements to his work. Baby Tattooville concluded yesterday with a fantastic brunch at the Mission Inn as well as passing out of the “goodie” bags (more on this later). We must say that we thoroughly enjoyed covering this event and would recommend attending next year for anyone interested in this genre. Baby Tattooville Day 2: Riverside Art Museum

After an afternoon of artists alternating between sketching for attendees or working on the collaborative “Art Jam” piece, everyone headed down for the “Beyond Baby Tattooville” show at the Riverside Art Museum. We had previously previewed the show, but there was a new additional piece from each featured artist for sale at this exhibition. The session right before lunch was a panel of three artists: Dave Cooper, Brandi Milne, and Ana Bagayan. Dave did drawings of one of his famous luscious, lavacious, and occasionally obese women. Each attendee of the event was to receive one of these…there were inked drawings for sale too! (look for a future feature on these beautifully rendered drawings). The “Art For Hope” benefit (previously mentioned) took place at Merry Karnowsky Gallery last night. This was a special “one night only” group show to raise funds for the Obama campaign. Although this event was not planned very far in advance, everything came together nicely.
