Openings: Steal from Work – ‘Flogging a Dead Horse’ @ The Showroom, Bristol

Steal From Work (the guys that put on the 12 Days of Christmas and Not a Penny More group shows in Bristol) put on their first show in two years on Bristol’s busy Park Street. The production entitled Flogging a Dead Horse promised to be “a group show featuring the best (and worst) urban street contemporary artists in the world” and at first glance they really were true to their words. People wandering in were impressed by original canvases by the likes of Banksy, Hirst, […]

Numerous fans of Mr. Walker queued overnight for their chance cop one of the 100 prints released to public. Openings: Nick Walker – “In Gods We Trust” @ Art Sensus

We’re still decompressing a little from all of the art events going on in London over this last week, and one of the highlights was Nick Walker’s opening evening of his new solo exhibition “In Gods We Trust”. We were itching to see where Nick was taking this exhibition after we saw hints of the scale and direction in our recent studio visit. Art Sensus’ spot next to Phillips de Pury was a fitting location for what was evidently a change in scale and also […]

Studio Visits: Nick Walker – “In Gods We Trust” @ Art Sensus Gallery

The time is almost upon us for the opening of Nick Walker’s latest London solo exhibition “In Gods We Trust” at Art Sensus Gallery. AM almost spat our tea when we opened the envelope containing the invitation to the exhibition this week – the lavishly produced document is printed in gold leaf and apes the style of what is surely the most widely dispersed of books familiar to many a traveller – the Gideons Bible. Expect political and religious satire to run throughout the show, […]

Streets: Nick Walker’s “Cardinal Sinister” in London

It looks like Bristol stencilist Nick Walker (interviewed) was up at the crack of dawn this morning to hit up a prominent spot in London outside the Royal College of Art / Royal Albert Hall with this piece entitled “Cardinal Sinister”. Walker is bang on topic with his rendition of Pope Benedict XVI stoking a white cat à la Bond villain Blofeld, who’s arrival in the apparently “third world” UK this week has sparked tension in some and indifference in others. Britain may largely be […]
