On Saturday night (May 12th), the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City will be welcome Mia Araujo (interviewed) and her paintings into their showspace for her first solo show. Into The Woods will feature an aesthetic from the LA-based artist we have become accustomed to – namely her use of a central character surrounded by a smaller cast in associated vignettes. For fans of the recent more monochromatic aspects of Mars-1′s (featured) oeuvre, this new mural he painted in San Francisco should get them going. The otherworldly and organic nature of his work has become recognizable as part of the local painter’s signature imagery with certain pieces executed in a more minimalistic fashion – like the one seen here but on a much larger scale.
