The Kehinde Wiley show opened last night to a packed house at Roberts & Tilton in the Culver City Art District. Kehinde Wiley Lecture @ Getty Center

In a little warm-up for his upcoming show at Roberts & Tilton, Kehinde Wiley gave a well-received lecture at the Getty Center last night.  He impressed the crowd as an eloquent speaker and accompanied his talk with some well prepared slides.  Especially interesting were his photo reference comparisons to his final paintings where he “street-cast” strangers off the street to pose for his paintings. Teaser: Jose Parla – “Reading Through Seeing” @ Ooi Botos Gallery (Hong Kong)

Oos Botos Gallery in Hong Kong will be hosting “Reading Through Seeing,” José Parlá’s first solo exhibition in Hong Kong.  The show will open on May 14th and will be accompanied by a fully illustrated catalog with an essay by author and New York University scholar Alexandra Chang.
