Previews: Pejac – ‘Law of the Weakest’ Pop-Up Show (London)

Law of the Weakest, the first major solo exhibition by Spanish artist Pejac, opens this Friday, 22 July in London. Held at Londonewcastle Project Space (28 Redchurch Street, London E2 7DP), the pop-up will run until Sunday 31 July. AM initially mentioned a forthcoming show back in January. Upcoming: “Luminosity & Dust” @ beinArt Gallery

On July 23rd, beinArt Gallery in Brunswick will be opening a new four person show entitled Luminosity & Dust. The nice mix of surreal imagery that will be on display includes Casey Weldon’s hyper chromatic & cinematic paintings (seen above), Gerard Greer’s bone assemblages, Peter Gric’s humanoid-mechanical hybrids, and Rodrigo Luff’s lush psychedelic nudes. Recap: Seth – “Range Ta Chabre” @ Teatro India (999 Contemporary)

As previously reported, on the 7th of July, after two months of participating in 999 Foundation’s Artist Resistance Residency in Rome, Seth aka Julien Malland opened his solo show entitled Range Ta Chambre (Clean Up Your Room). Placed in an abandoned soap factory, the exhibition turned out to be quite an experience. Without any canvases being on display, the event was focused on exploring the abandoned factory in effort to revitalize it as a future social and creative hub. Streets: Nychos (Rhode Island)

This week in Providence, Nychos continued his hectic schedule with a snow leopard mural for the INFLUX public art festival put on by The Avenue Concept. The nonprofit organization working to bring sustainable public art to Rhode Island welcomed in the Austrian artist (with the help of INOPERAbLE) to paint his distinctive cartoonish dissected imagery for the project concentrated in two locations – downtown Providence and the “Cultural Corridor” between Classical and Central High Schools. Athens’ Dio Horia gallery recently hosted Taylor McKimens in their one month long residency program where he created a whole new series of paintings that are currently on view. Swapping Paint continues his recent Stoic Youth show (covered), which also explored his take on Hellenistic art. Utilizing the figurative part of his imagery as a repeating theme, the NY-based artist focused instead on the background, colorways, patterns, and the surrounding abstract elements. Previews: Camille Rose Garcia – “Phantasmacabre” @ Corey Helford Gallery (Part 2)

Along with surreal new paintings for her upcoming solo at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles, Camille Rose Garcia will also be presenting some Snow White water color and ink works on paper. With her work strongly influenced by fairy tales, especially the darker non-mainstream original versions of the stories, fans will remember that she has gone back to the source in the past to illustrate some of her favorites like Alice in the Wonderland as well as Snow White. Upcoming: Jeff Soto – “The Sotofish Society” @ Jonathan LeVine Gallery

On September 10th, Jeff Soto (interviewed) will be returning to Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York for another solo show. Entitled The Sotofish Society, the exhibition will see the Southern California-based artist re-exploring some of the past elements of his work including yetis, reapers, robots, landscapes, antlers, geometric shapes, and of course the iconic Sotofish!
