Installation: Banksy’s – “Walled Off Hotel” Bethlehem (Update)

One week since Banksy’s latest & arguably one of his strongest stunts to date was revealed to the public, we’ve received the first official photographs of The Walled Off  Hotel in Bethlehem (covered). With local visitors enjoying the quiet space in an otherwise loud and turbulent area, these images give us an even closer look at the hotel premises, including the artworks which the infamous artist created & installed in the former pottery workshop building. The installation had a VIP opening on March 4th with Sir Elton John remotely playing the lobby piano […]

Showing: Austin Lee – “Serious Works” @ Kaikai Kiki Gallery

On March 3rd, Kaikai Kiki Gallery in Motoazabu, Tokyo, opened a debut Japan solo exhibition by American artist Austin Lee. Serious Works is sort of a parody title for a show that consists of paintings and sculptures done in Lee’s colorful, naive style. For this showcase, the NYC-based artist created an extensive installation within the gallery space. His large animal mural and chess board floor pattern make an eclectic environment in which his playful and poppy imagery feels at home and well presented. His sculptural piece titled Duo, a bubble gum-like […]

Updates: Pejac – “Redemption” Series

Redemption is the title of the newest series of monochrome pieces that Pejac recently worked on in his studio. Consisting of six new pieces created with pencil and ink on pressed wood panels, they once again show the artist’s unique way in perceiving the world and finding inspiration in most unexpected places. After creating countless public works in which he incorporates the elements of the surroundings, the Barcelona-based artist found a way to paint studio works in a similar manner. Using the common pressed wood panel as the […]

Studio Visits: Nick Walker x Crash x Bio – “The Collaborations”

AM recently had the pleasure of stopping by the studio of legendary graffiti writer & artist Crash (featured) at his Bronx work space. As the title of the show indicates, The Collaborations builds on a concept which started over two years ago on the Lower East Side where Nick, Crash & Bio created a mural on Elizabeth street, […]

Produced in cooperation with Foundation Montresso in Marrakech, this body of work continues artist’s large series of portrait pieces based on studies done during his travels around the globe. Exclusively created with spray paint and India ink on canvas, these large pieces aim to show the scars that […]

Installation: Banksy’s – “Walled Off Hotel” (Bethlehem)

Earlier today, Banksy revealed his latest project to a select group of journalists, far from where they are usually looking. Back in the West Bank area for the third time, the elusive artist officially opened Walled Off Hotel. After painting the much hated Israeli West Bank wall more than a decade ago, then creating a series of related works only two years ago (covered), the British artist once again brings attention to one of the most turbulent places in the world. Announced as an actual boarding house that will be open for bookings […]

POW! WOW! Hawaii ’17: James Jean

Amidst all of the street art during this year’s POW! WOW! Hawaii, one of the more unique elements of the event that could be observed were the portrait sessions with James Jean (interviewed). Featuring a diverse selection of subjects, the six chosen ones sat for a few hours with the gifted artist as he masterfully captured their visages in a series of loose yet detailed paintings. At the conclusion of the live session, the lucky subject was gifted the portrait – something they will treasure in their collections […]
