The Paris-based artist arrived to the island straight after the opening of his show in Paris (covered), and with taking part in the Exploring The New Contemporary Movement group show (covered), the mural was the second and main part of his participation in this year’s event. Inspired by the tropical paradise and island life, he created one of his familiar images of a little girl standing on a rock with her head being lost […]

Augustine Kofie (featured) was one of the first artists to finish his mural for POW! WOW! Hawaii this year. POW! WOW! ’14 / Streets: Roid x Insa (Part I)

British artists Roid and Insa are part of “team England” at this year’s Pow! Wow! Hawaii,  working on an impressive and unusual collaboration. The two are creating another piece in Insa’s ongoing series of moving GIF-ITI’s, which features the interesting concept of creating street art that comes to life when put online in the form of animated gif. Taking full advantage of the strong connection between street art and internet, gif-iti’s are literally giving a new dimension to flat and static graffiti works. AM spent […]

American-born and Tel Aviv-based artist, Know Hope, is one of the artists taking part in this year’s Pow! Wow! Hawaii event in Honolulu. Upcoming: Risk & Nathan Ota – “Innocence Lost” @ Corey Helford Gallery

On Saturday, Feburary 15th, the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City will host a two-person show from RISK (interviewed) and Nathan Ota. As seen from their collaborative exhibitions in 2001 (LA & SF), the two reunited artists who started in the graffiti scene together over 25 years ago, have imagery that seems to fit so nicely together despite their divergent paths since high school. Expect more of Ota’s surrealistic and figurative characters superimposed over the letter-based backgrounds of RISK. Discuss Risk here. Discuss Nathan Ota here.
