Streets: Os Gemeos x JR (Paris)

The Brazilian brothers Os Gemeos are currently in Europe, working on a couple of different projects. Their first stop was in Paris where they collaborated with a long time friend and fellow artist/photographer, JR (interviewed), creating an installation in the tunnels of the Palais de Tokyo. During their stay at the French capital, the twins spent three days creating works for the ongoing Lasco Project curated by Hugo Vitrani. Streets: ROID x Pref (London)

Continuing to share wall space together on occasion, ROID & Pref joined up recently on this sick collab in London. Interestingly painting strictly in black and white in this instance, the unique geometric style of the MSK affiliated ROID was the perfect foil to the ID crew writer Pref’s signature overlapping technique. Ultimate Ears has collaborated with James Reka, aka RekaOne, on a very recently released (in the US and Europe) artist edition UE Boom2 mobile speaker. Influenced by the artist’s teenage years spent drawing and tagging on his boombox, the piece is titled Lost Time, for losing oneself in the moment. Back in November of 2015, the city of Gainesville coordinated the beginning of 352walls (The Gainesville Urban Art Initiative project). Curated by Iryna Kanishcheva, the first edition of the event was recently completed while producing 11 murals by internationally recognized artists, plus 10 murals by local artists and a bunch of electrical boxes interventions throughout the Floridian city’s downtown. Streets: Pangeaseed – “Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans” (New Zealand) – Part II

After a look at some of the artists at work on their pieces for the Sea Walls: Murals for Oceans project sponsored by the PangeaSeed Foundation, here is a look at some select walls they painted. The muralists were invited in by the non-profit in Napier, New Zealand to create works to raise awareness for ocean environmental issues. Only few days before the opening of a long awaited London solo by Paul Insect, we got a nice peek at the artist’s studio while he was adding final touches to the new pieces. Presented by Allouche Gallery, the pop-up show will open on the 9th of April and will stay on view for 6 days at a yet undisclosed location in East London. Recently, Nigo announced that KAWS will be designing Uniqlo’s UT line for spring. The new collection, scheduled to be on sale April 22nd, will consist of 12 T-shirts with the Brooklyn-based artist’s imagery. By the first look, they are everything KAWS fans would hope for. The Companions, X’s, gloves, eyes and Chums, all rendered with the American artist’s recognizable line work, have found their way on to the backs and fronts of the tees. Showing: Vhils – “Debris” @ HOCA Foundation (Part II)

After sharing with you the public installation from Vhils (filmed) inspired by the neon lights of Hong Kong, we now turn our attention to the exhibition he currently has on display with the HOCA Foundation. Debris was the first solo show from the Portuguese artist in Hong Kong and features his multitude of techniques on different mediums including a video installation.
